Any help needed?
Hi all,
Embedded C/C++ developer here with lua scripting experience here. Lots of domain experience working with tcp/udp but mostly through the linux socket interface. Is there any work still being done on the server or is it mostly content left at this point? I did play Vanguard from 2007-2008 but can't quite remember enough to be too useful with things like quest design but any game systems that still need to be put in or scripted I can probably assist with. Don't have tons of free time but can chip in where I can.

Hey, thanks for you interest in helping out the game! While we do need help, please understand that over the years we've been working on this, we've had a very large number of people volunteer to help, then ghost us. We do everything to set them up, and then they poke around for a little bit and we never hear from them again. As you can imagine, this has made us a little gunshy about setting people up. Because of this, we're seeking commitment.
I've been talking to Xinux about maybe putting the server code out somewhere public so people like you that would like to mess with it when they get free time would be able to help out, but our experience with that was also not positive. I have no control over that.
My advice, if you still wish to help out, is to just play and test! If you decide you really want to help out and get some extra time, feel free to reach out to us again!
