Isle of Dawn Progress Thread
Re: Isle of Dawn Progress Thread
Just going over this real quick. I want to make sure you know that
#1. We're an emulator project that appears on the outside like it's a finished game, but we're still trying to put a lot of the back end in place. And as such we cannot be compared to the Live and finished version of the game yet. I'm afraid that you might be wasting your time with what you're checking for.
#2. That you played the Live game and understand it's weaknesses that we can't fix.
We really do appreciate that people are going through and testing stuff, we just have to make sure people are testing the right things right now since not everything is up to date, and we're still poking the client to find out how it works.
That said, let me address a few points:
For this specific quest (Additional Refining) It tells you what to do in the quest summary:
Deliver either three copper ingots, three weakened boards, or three bolts of jute cloth to Dosha Redwine. Acquire her weapons and deliver them to Mu Silverchair.
Sometimes quests are a little confusing like this, but you will find it's not uncommon in VG. The original devs wanted to force players to read.
For Diplomacy, I'll spare you going through that. The Diplomacy scripts across the board are the oldest in game, and are in dire need of updating. So at this point, it's probably not worth testing it right now.
Thought you did make some points about Diplo in general that needs to be addressed:

This is something from the Live Game. It has something to do with how the game engine does the physics. I do not believe we can do anything about this since we can't edit the client and how the client behaves for things like this. You will see this has a chance to happen anywhere there's water.Nodoskaar wrote:1. Sometimes in the Xao Marshlands, while you are swimming you will suddenly leap out of the water and fly forward a few meters.
Known issue due to the limitations of the system currently. We can only have it pop up in a sphere. In order to make sure there is no way a player can get around where it pops up, it ends up giving it to people outside since they're within that sphere. I'm sure the devs will figure out some way that will allow us to pinpoint where we can put these things, but right now this is all we have.Nodoskaar wrote:1. When walking around the outside of the Earth Den you are able to trigger the dialogue and acquire the quests from the ghost inside the Earth Den.
Can you be more specific? I was able to select any of the second list. Also remember that when the items are shown in a list like that you don't get all of them, you only get one of them. He was offering you one of those harvested materials out of the 5 available.Nodoskaar wrote:1. After completing the quest "Ulvari Investigation", when turning in for the reward I was only able to select from the first or last options. The others did not work.
Let me preface this by saying that Vanguard is not a game that will hold your hand, and will sometimes allow you to make choices on things that aren't in your best interest. This sounds like you chose harvesting skills that were not complimentary to your crafting class. Generally people choose harvesting skills related to their crafting class out of ease. They allow you to do this for legitimate reasons that I won't get into here. But if you choose to take a harvesting skill that is not with your crafting class, you have to find a way to get the mats in another way, such as buying or trading from other harvesters. This is not a bug. This is exactly how the system is supposed to work. This is why there's so much information about what you can do when you pick a crafting class or a harvesting skill.Nodoskaar wrote:2. The quest "More Items for Yoshin" requires you to have 2 weighted metal ribbings, 2 rugged leather linings, or 2 weighted wooden grips...
In Vanguard, only the questgiver and questcompleter have shields. No others will ever have shields on them.Nodoskaar wrote:3. During the quest "More Weapons for Dosha" , when you come to the part of the quest to exchange items with Dosha, she does not have a shield, compass marker, or other indicator that she is where you need to go next. It should be fairly obvious if you read the entire quest, but she is off to the side and you a click through player you might be lost for a bit on this one.

Thought you did make some points about Diplo in general that needs to be addressed:
The "Getting around it" with the diplo civic buffs like "Smile and Nod" is exactly what the devs were expecting players to do. There's also gear you can buy from the building with the diplo trainer in it. These types of presence restrictions are *very common* in diplomacy and you will see it a lot more as you go up in levels. The only thing we don't have set up yet that Live had was ticking up presence like skillups for the various types of diplomacy. So in essence, this is not a bug, you're doing it exactly as it was intended in the original game.Nodoskaar wrote:5. Two of the earliest quests you can obtain are "Sun Cho's Research" and "Poems of Magic" but they are locked behind the need to have 10 academic presence. This is odd and inconsistent with the rest of the quests in the area. There are quests in the area that are accessible without presence. You can get around it by activating the Nod and Smile buff or by or continuing on with the quests and coming back after you get the necessary equipment from the House of the Shining Waves.
More specific details would be helpful here. What buff were you working on? What was the number it was at? Keep in mind that there is a cap to how far you can push a diplo lever.Nodoskaar wrote: 6. When activating the buffs it will occasionally not move the completion number forward. I was able to complete back to back wins within moments of one another and the number would go not advance.
This was available in live too and one of the changes that I thought was for the better of the game.Nodoskaar wrote: 1. Only one comment I would make it that having all classed open to all races is quite nice. I am playing an Orc Paladin on the Isle of Dawn and love the role-playing possibilities.
Without specifics we can't do anything about it. You will find that in VG a lot of quests do not give you compass pointers, this is by design. They expect you find it on your own or read the quest text for hints. Don't get used to always having a compass pointer take you where you need to go.Nodoskaar wrote: 2. Most quests have bubbles that add compass points, they are missing 1 or 2 targets for their quest. Some are completely missing these, it would be nice if these were all uniform if possible.
I don't know what you mean by this. If it's a quest objective in itself, it will have a popup. If it isn't, it won't. This is also by design.Nodoskaar wrote: 3. There are ambiguities in some of the quests, particularly in the crafting line. It would be nice if when need to make an item that it would be indicated in the pop up.
Can't take any credit for that here, that was also part of the original game.Nodoskaar wrote: 4. Speaking of pop ups, whomever is responsible for the pop ups you get when you scroll over the quests deserves pizza! I love these and do not recall them from the original game. I have played a horde or RPGs and MMOs and could have just forgotten but these are fantastic.

IoD Quest: Artisan's Saga: Ulvari Requiem - 7551
Minor Bug: The quest allows you to complete Step 2 "Set up the Fiend Reaver" in which you attach the crafted item to the Untainted Alter in the Temple of the Ancestors before you've crafted it in the previous step "Show the Fiend Reaver to Mitachi". Presumably, you'd have to actually create the Fiend Reaver before you could attach it
.
Having said that, you can still go back and craft it and then show it to Mitachi to update the first step. Afterwards, you can then proceed to hail The Ulvari Keeper and successfully complete the quest.

This has been fixed with an error message to let the player know why it doesn't work.Curby wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 5:35 pm IoD Quest: Artisan's Saga: Ulvari Requiem - 7551
