Buying in bulk from broker? Potions working?
  • Quote

Post by CWB » Fri Oct 30, 2020 2:13 pm

Hello.

Does anyone know or remember if there is a way to buy items in numbers aka bulk off the exchange brokers? Or do we have to buy each item one at a time? I cant figure out how to buy things in bulk, which makes it a real pain to buy a stack of anything. Also when I buy potions off the exchange they never seem to work, are they not implemented in game yet?

Thanks for any help, sorry for newbie questions.

Items are on the exchange right now for the benefit of the designers*, not the players. You're not supposed to buy some of these items on the exchange and they'll be removed once we "go live". So right now anything like that would need to be bought one at a time, and we have no intention to change it.

*It makes our job ten times easier if we can look up the items in game instead of our database directly, and the exchange is the one thing in game set up to do exactly this.

Most non-quest, non-food items are not scripted yet.

Hello Jakkal thanks for the fast reply.
Ok so once it goes live, lets say I want to by something like crafted ammo, or other items you normally have a good stack of in your inventory. I have to buy one arrow at a time so it takes 1/2 hr to get 100 stack? O.o

The setup of the exchange right now is for testing, not normal player usage. Items are placed there by the system for benefit of designers.

Once we go live, items on the exchange will be put there by players. Things like ammo are usually sold by full stacks, but that's up to the selling player how many they want to put in a stack.

Yup Jackal already made that real clear lol.
Doesnt make much sense though, as the entire game currently is a big test server right? So the exchange helps players test things as well. You give us commands to be any level, go to any location, give ourselves money, etc. So through the exchange, we can gear up specifically for the exact level we want to be, rift command to various areas/dungeons, and do some testing. I have several geared 50s and sometimes go into that Port Warehouse, which I would probably never have been able to do in a decent time without the level commands, gear from the exchange, and even the rift commands to get all of my characters in there. Because of those nice features, I was able to go in there and report that there seemed to be a excessive amount mobs, even at the start, in that dungeon. I was told it will be all worked on and straightened out in time, which I had guessed was the case.

I just wanted to know if it was possible to buy things in bulk off the exchange, like most every other MMORPGs broker/auction house/player trade etc NPC. So as long as the seller puts up say a stack of 50 arrows I can buy the entire stack at once, excellent that is all I wanted to know and thank you.

You're asking the devs to take valuable time away from building the game so that you can save time getting items that don't currently need testing. That is the issue. Right now the designers are using it as an item catalogue, and that's what we need it for. That's why we have all those items on it.

When items need testing, we'll make them available in larger stacks. Right now it's just players that want to kit themselves out and no offense, that's a waste of our very limited time in the present state.

I realize that players might want to buy things but that's not how it is right now. In the future when we no longer need it, we'll use it for it's intended purpose of player to player item selling, and they can decide how many is in a stack if they want to sell it.

No, I wasnt asking for devs to take time away from building the game, read my original question again. I asked if there was a way to buy in bulk off the exchange and you seemed to get a little bent out of shape over it. And how exactly do you know what Im testing? You dont. You are making this simple question into a big deal and I have no idea why.

So you want all testing to be slowed down massively by players playing the game, on this test server, legitimately... instead of being able to go to any level, any location, at any gear level, and have basically unlimited testing power...is that right? Wouldnt it make more sense to allow the players access anything at anytime to make testing much more efficient? Then after release of course wipe everything and start fresh and legit?

Actually no, I'm trying to explain to you the reasoning why you can't buy bulk, and what it would entail to set it up - which to set it up would take time away from the developers. And I think you might be taking it the wrong way.

And I do, in fact, know what you're not testing. Most potions aren't scripted yet. So you can't test them. Most other items aren't scripted yet, so you're not testing them either. And ranged ammo can be bought in bulk off general goods and ranged weapon vendors, so you can test with those instead.

So no, I don't want testing slowed down. There's nothing on the exchange that will cause a slow down on the testing that is needed. In fact, if anything, the exchange will make testing less reliable as players purposefully kit themselves out with the best gear available or items otherwise that shouldn't be on the exchange at all. So if I could, I'd set it up so players can't use it at all right now. But I'm not going to ask the developers to do that either.

So really you just need to test the content and items that need testing. We have posts here that explain what needs testing and what doesn't (And items are on that list).

Thats what I originally wanted to know, if the broker/exchange was even capable of bulk purchases like most all other MMORPGs, and its crazy if it is not capable of this. The potions was something recently I tried, and none worked so I just assumed they had not been implemented yet.

When I roll a character and use the level command to quickly get to a certain level, I normally dont give that character overpowered gear every single time. I give him greens maybe blues, possibly a yellow as my characters were in live VG, then go test out things. My 50s all are different though with high end gear, as I want them to try harder content more end game things. And using the exchange to to gear a character leveled with the command for fast testing is still infinitely faster then if you leveled the normal way, and earned gear the normal way.

I will check out the forums and what specific levels, classes, areas, dungeons, spells, etc etc need direct testing though so I can try and focus my time on exact things you guys need and provide feedback/bug reporting as I find things.

Thank you again for your quick replies and all of you and the entire teams hard work bring back in my opinion, one of the best MMORPGs ever made.

PS I forgot to ask where on the forums can I look to find what needs testing? I didnt see the right area.
