Bug 444: (Xinux) I was able to kill questgiver ...
Bug ID : 444 - I was able to kill questgiver ... Bug Date : 2016/03/21 03:59:50 Assigned To : Xinux Priority : Low Category : VGClient Sub-Category : Gameplay: Quest Severity : Standard Reproducible : Every timeDetails:
I was able to kill questgiver Eni Jaderiver. I shouldn't be able to attack her. I did get a message "invalid target." I hit her with 3 abilities: Holy Strike I, Hammer of Judgment I, and Aegis Strike I, all as part of a macro. It looks like only Aegis Strike actually landed. The other two abilties seem to be blocked.

Why shouldn't you be able to attack her?
Re: Bug 444: (Xinux) I was able to kill questgiver ...
Most NPCs were 'invalid targets" and unattackable. I guess the devs didn't want to deal with trolls killing quest NPCs or whatnot. The annoying thing was that if you were KOS to these mobs and they attacked you, you couldn't attack them back. all you could do was stand there and take it or run them off.

Re: Bug 444: (Xinux) I was able to kill questgiver ...
Why didn't they just add a check if the mob wasn't attackable then they shouldn't have been able to attack a PC but still able to attack a NPC.

Vanguard Logic™
It was just really annoying, one of the reasons I was glad some of these NPCs had short leash ranges, because they would kill your ass, but you couldn't do anything to them.

Quick question could you start auto attacking with no target or did you have to have a offensive target?
Re: Bug 444: (Xinux) I was able to kill questgiver ...
Making a dev call on this one if you don't have a offensive target you cannot start auto attacking. No need to spam the server if you don't have something to hit.
You will not be able to attack npc's that are not marked as attackable next time i update NT.

Re: Bug 444: (Xinux) I was able to kill questgiver ...
You could start auto attacking with no target. If you have a target but you're not in range, it would say "target too far away" or "you must be facing your target" (If you aren't) something like that. If you didn't have a target, it would give a different error message, I don't recall what it said. But I know you could do it without a target.

Re: Bug 444: (Xinux) I was able to kill questgiver ...
Was there a reason for it? I don't see a need to waste the server resources if you don't have a target.
Re: Bug 444: (Xinux) I was able to kill questgiver ...
I don't know if there was a reason for it, but I can't think of one. So if it saves server resources, I'd say turn it off. If people let us know what the reason might be, then we could talk about setting it back up.
