Unequipping Items

I noticed this because I was fooling around with combat animations.

Combat Animations are based on what weapon you have equipped. Animation ID 1 is different depending on whether you are bare-fisted, 2h sword, 1h sword, bow, etc.

When unequipping an item (click on item in character sheet and move to inventory), the animation does not revert to the barehanded animation: it continues swinging an imaginary weapon. This makes me think there is something missing from the un-equip packet information.

Added to the list to investigate. The whole 'equip'/'unequip' system seems a bit odd, and I know there is some key component that I'm missing. One would think that placing an equippable item into an equipment slot would be enough to make the world go 'round, but it apparently is not.

These are great clues; keep them coming. Next week is go time for me.

1. Equip a 2h or 1h (I tested with a greatsword and a mace) and start beating something up
2. Unequip your weapon

The animation will remain the same even though you are bare handed.

If you switch between 2h and 1h, the animation changes accordingly.

Actually, when using the mace, only the first swing looks like a mace, then it looks like a 2h.

Were you even allowed to equip gear while in combat in VG? One of my games told me I couldn't. Not sure which.

That would be the easiest way to fix it...just do a combat check before allowing unequip. If we want/need to leave it, then I'm not sure how/where we can force a correct visual.

You could equip weapons in combat, just not armor. I used a macro to swap between sword and board and 2h quite a bit while soloing on the Pally.

You could definitely swap weapons mid-combat. Was required for some encounters.
