Custom player requests/bounties
I was thinking about an idea regarding the (almost) Omni present message boards in towns. The idea is directly taken from Ultima Online.
Why not let players be able to post requests/bounties on the message boards in towns?
For example Kig, the orc weaponsmith requires 100 units of X raw material, but is unable to go and get them on his own due to his low adventurer level. As such he goes into town and posts a request, offering as reward a custom crafted weapon. Or let's say there is a really powerful "PvP troll" (no offence meant here), terrorizing the low level population in Tursh village. The players gather what they can and offer a bounty for his capture/kill (here maybe implement a prison system as well).
Now it is true, that all this can be accomplished by spamming the General chat channel, but some bulleting board postings would increase the overall game immersion (maybe even disable the general chat channels, limiting communication to whispers/ local chat). As such you would create a further reason for players to revisit different towns in order to complete player requests (not to mention that you get a tons of additional "to do" content without the need for further server programing/quest creation).
