I'm not talking about the results, or the outcome. I'm talking about the intent. People were asking SOE for a trial. SOE didn't want them to have access to the world at large. So they made the IOD. IIRC, you couldn't leave the IOD without subscribing. That's what it was made for.

Ok. I get what you're saying. Sorry. Didn't mean to come off as offensive.

Thats exactly how I remember it. There was a guild that had its members taking turns on IoD helping the newbies out, answering questions, and making sure everyone made it through the temple as not every class could solo it. It was through them I learned that IoD was not an exact representation of all that Telon really had to offer. It was really only because of that I decided to sub a month and see if it was worth it. First thing I did was make a druid in Ca'ial Brael and it was like a whole different game. It felt immersive and vast and I wanted to explore, instead of like I was trapped someplace I did not want to be. Thats really the reason I vote the island down. There are a lot of brand new people coming to the player forums who have no idea about Telon and it would be a shame to lose them because IoD turned them off.

We could turn IoD into a raid area!

My guild already did a raid on the temple. Iku Dai couldn't handle us!

I like the idea of making it into a raid area or high level hunting ground of sorts. Lets face it, not a lot to chose from end game and maybe you get tired of repeat quests (Var armor) in Qalia and want to do something else? Its a lot of space and could be made into something. or a few somethings that are very fun.

It could be tuned for Nightmare!-mode for those that wants a real challenge instead of the original starting areas easy mode. So if you ever manage to escape the isle then you do deserve all that insanely over powered gear you got there.

Why not making IoD into a huge PvP Arena?

One of the worst things they did was introduce IoD in live, it completely destroyed the feeling of having a racial identity and cheapened anyone attempting to rp their toon. Nevermind suddenly turning all the uniqueness of each starter area into just another random city.

That being said the idea behind it being added into the game in the first place was a good one, that players who just started and chose different races didn't want to be stranded 30+ hours of travel time apart. So how about this...

Eventually, convert IOD into a higher level area as others have suggested. But leave a welcome area that's effectively just a small room - for the express purpose of letting players who want to meet up at level 1 be able find each other... then take be zoned and bound over in a starter city of their choice.

IOD is most likely not going to be touched. Instead we're going to try to make starter areas as good as IOD. Now before you rage about how twinky IOD gear is, keep in mind that before F2P, that shit got significantly nerfed. Also keep in mind that most of the starter gear that was collected does not have stats on it, which is what also leads me to using IOD as a model for all the other starter areas.

Check out Dahknarg for an example, I've already redone all the gear there.

My other thought is to make some kind of teleport or riftway between the starter towns, like a level 1 rift, that would allow lowbies to join each other whenever they want/need to if they want to make separate races without having to rely on the IOD.
