Will Halgar be merged with Telon?

  1. Im hearing no one is left on Halgar and yes I would like to see it finaly merged with Telon. When there is only Telon left, that gives the best chance in the future of a "new fresh" server opening up.
  2. Why would that matter to you as you do not play the game anymore?

    Exactly...
  4. Because I , and MANY former players who left ONLY because of the wowification campaign that transformed Vangaurd are looking for even the smallest reason to return.
We did not leave because of the "hard" xp, or the "hard" anything, we left because of teleportation spires in adjacent zones (because god forbid someone would have to travel even one zone on foot), xp so fast you outleveled a dungeon before even finishing it, and free flying reindeers for all level one toons trivializing content and all other mounts.
We, the former mass players of vangaurd, are watching and waiting for the light at the end of this tunnel, to see if an immersive serious game is at the end, or if that light is just another glowing nose on a flying reindeer...

We are still here, some of us didn't leave while others like myself had RL require attention and then returned, play VG for what it is and stop bashing on it.
Who is "we" anyway, you and two friends? who do you speak on behalf of...? lol
You are doing more harm than good by ranting on these forums in every post you make.
  6. why is he doing more harm than good?
Are you guys afraid of SOE (!) telling you
"Oh gosh, there are some haters on the board...let's change financial plan and wipe the Vg-Devs outta their chairs!"

believe me, it didn't matter that hundreds of ppl announced quitting the game because of grinding and SOE did not change plan. So it would be plain silly to believe that even with that upcoming content ANY of the community-based doubts will have any effect.
    Back to Topic:

I really hope that Halgar wont get merged with Telon. At the moment there are about 20-30 players online (okay, half of it is my guild atm...) but I am pretty sure that if content is released Halgar will be filled a bit...a strong guess into the dark would be approx. 50-100 characters online.
And from my point of view, raiding concerned stuff, that is enough :))

I like EU servers, I dont like the lags...and I dont like fighting about Encounters.

Why would I be afraid of SOE? what a silly question...
I was referring to all the negative posts that new players and potential subs read, doom and gloom does not have the kind of appeal to players wanting to join a game they have never played before or come back to one they previously had troubles with, all they will see is some ranting person and get the wrong impression from a single players posts and that player doesn't even play...
He is like a disgruntled employee trying to drive away business at his old place of work, why bother? either play the game for what it is or move along to something that better suits your taste.
Loc's rantings will have less of an effect on the Dev's than the rest of us asking for something and could even be the cause of the Dev's missing a helpful or well thought out post due to a wall of doom and gloom I am sure they would rather skip than read.
OT: The majority of players have already transferred over to Telon, leaving an entire server running for your guild I am sure will not be on their list of priorities. I live in Australia and do not have an Oceanic server and we manage quite well playing on EU or US servers considering...if closing Halgar means opening up Test or saving money to spend more on Vanguard or Telon (the more populated server) I would definitely vote that way if given the chance.
  8. me the other way around...

So you would rather close Telon (the most populated server) and just want Halgar open for everyone to populate...kind of selfish don't you think? It sounds like your are more concerned with yourself and your guild and not the game as a whole...
I assure you Vanguard would lose even more subs if this happened and it would probably see the end of VG once and for all, is that what you want to happen?
    /sad face
  10. I think what he was saying was that he would rather not have any servers "merged" any further, even if it's at the cost of test, or saving money to spend more on Telon.
  11. I am activly playing again btw, and yes I do love vanguard and the world it created. Its not perfect but I guess what is? Stop crucifying me on a troll cross just because I hate Randolf (and if NOTHING ELSE changes, at least randolf must and then i'll be happy and content.. no one can defend randolf with a straight face, no one!).
I'll try to be more positive on the boards.
  12. i like randolph, my sig is outdates, ill see if i can make a pro randolph siggy :p the mount should .... STAY.
if you dont like it, dont use it. no one is forcing you. get a griffon at lvl 50 and be a happy camper.
as for halgar, i log in every once in a while there, and all i see is 13/15 ppl online noone above lvl 30, and 80% on iod. it should be shut down, give people a month to transfer, and save the costs of running a second sever.
  13. edit:
I said I was going to try to be a more positive member of the community so I'll refrain...
Back to my OP, Halgar is reminding me of the very last few months of Sartok, it was common to be one of only 10 people on the whole server there it became so dead.
But at least Sartok had a unique hook: global pvp.
Seems Halgar needs to get the axe, all data (toons, etc) transfered to Telon and then use the money saved to support Telon or open up a new server with a new "hook" (and a better hook then Halgar's "euro server" hook, since a 24/7 around the clock world wide population on a server is better for everyone anyways. People working the night shift in the USA can play with Euros during the U.S. day, etc and vise versa) like hmmm.. classic fresh start useing the hard core server code that was develolped.
That would hold a bigger population then Halgar at least.
  14. at work, browsing forums..
And sorry for the necro-threading, but i really thought i'd post on this one, i just can't understand the logic behind an EU and US merge, when your transfers are (lest i'm mistaken) absolutely f-r-e-e.
Petition it, ask nicely, there you go, hello Telon. Why ask for something that not only will -not- influence you (you can be at Telon on your own) but also force a situation upon others, unwillingly? I fail to see the logic behind this..
Personally speaking, am just a few days old yeah? And loving it..not just the game, but also the feeling of being IN the world..a feeling often destroyed by the multitudes of juveniles rushing around zerging mobs for the sheer kill joy, or spamming local with questions posed only a few minutes before once again..it is in fact one of the reason i will be subbing come March (cc is rather full for Feb). Yes, because Halgar is almost emtpy. Because i can actually forget myself when i'm the only one in the vicinity. Just me..will that change come late level? My problem, and nothing a transfer petition won't solve.
Don't close the server..you just got (as i read here) some new people on your team. And assuming SOE is indeed still behind this game, a possible revitalising through an F2P transition should happen sometime in the long distant future..try ask EU -non- Vanguard players (major distinction, but of an import) how they feel about yet another SOE product "ignoring" Europe [this time by not even giving it a server]. Please do
  15. closing down Halgar won't have an impact at all... in fact, the population is so low, it would probably even scare away new recruits... any active EU raiders play on Telon anyway. and once merged, Telon would not be referred to as "US server" anyway anymore.
  16. it would.. it's called less choices :)
For you it may be insignificant, for others, you cannot know (though you can check out non SOE related forums and get an idea yourself). And as it affects you not if it remains, i see not the problem..just as i said before..:p
  17. well as a long time halgar resident i think i can say the server no longer serves a purpose. From what ive read / picked up from semi confirmed rumers is that the only reason its still running is a contract with the hosting company.
if you log in on halgar now (still have a few chars there) there are an avarage of 5 ppl online, most on the isle, if ppl roll new toons there and find out its this empy, theyll run away from the game faster than ever.
im 100% for shutting this server setup down, im willing to bet it uses more money in power consumption alone than it generates from the 50 active subs it has.
keep the database server, so returning players can request a transfer.
  18. Imo should do what EQ keeps doing and make it a fresh start server, preferably with a pvp ruleset, and no rifts =)
Having only 1 server is not a good look, I never considered vg pvp flawed, I considered the policing of Sartok especially flawed. The only real flaw in pvp used to be the bards pulsing invis that would ignore your see invis gear or buffs, but that as far as I remember was actually fixed.
  19. Mackan wrote:
Nope, it wasn't. It actually got worse when they changed "server ticks".
It wasn't like bard pulse would not ignore see invis, more like the "seeing invis" rendering
too late. Same with stealth. Invis/stealthed people would run up to you and could stand
right on top of you for a couple seconds before they were actually rendered...or targetable.
A group coming up at your raid with a bard playing invis song would result in invis indeed
pulsing on and off when they attacked. Just when the group popped back invis it would
make you lose target and take a random amount of time before see invis would work again.
    Pretty annoying.
  20. Nenah@Sartok wrote:
Dang thought they fixed that, stealth did not bother me to much as it was personal. But like you say a whole raid or group pulsing invis, making you drop target that was my single biggest pvp grievance!
Well other than that after raiding and playing pve for so long all I can say is the pvp imbalances, like druid being bit op for example actually plays out well since theyre on the other side pve-wise. Anyways hopefully we have more arena fun and gain some momentum.
