    Hola,

Just wondering if, since this thread, any of the mentioned 40+ areas have been updated.

    Thanks in advance!

Bring back fear kiting for 51+ content.

Isn't there a level 30s dungeon in Field of Despair with little to no lore attached to it? Or what about the cave with the lorestone in Tar Janashir?

That's Falderhol. TJ one comes up on map as Vault of the Hidden, but that's in Jathred's Twist...it's actually Cave of Wonders (I think). There's another "lorestone" one in the swamps, Poisoned Cove or something like that, someone told me it had quests but I've never found them. I think a dungeon could get by without a big quest line, but in some of these cases, at least a little breadcrumb to point the way wouldn't hurt.

Just some comments from someone else that also did this recently - some of my experiences are a little different.

    VT:
Perfect - started here at 29, wasn't that grindy at all, finished all the armour and the weapon easily. Lots of groups.
    DT:
Did this in my late thirties for the weapon. Dungeon was almost completely dead, but I managed to solo almost the entire questline except for the last encounter. The reward was a really good weapon that I used for a long time - not sure what you mean about needing a stat boost.
    PoA:
Lots of boring solo grind quests - good content for classes that are worse at soloing (I play Disc).
    Greystone:
Really nice dungeon but the weapon quest was far far too much effort to be worth it. Complete grind that is nearly impossible to complete without a static group. DT weapon nearly as good and much easier. If the questline was a series of progression rather than a straight up collect 100 insignias I would be far more inclined.

Agree 100% with your comments re. Rak Citadel, Xennumet. Very fun and often well designed content that feels rushed and disjointed.

    RI:
Cool area but in terms of levelling bad xp vs effort. Quest lines are sometimes fun but often ruthlessly grindy. To be honest I think this area is fine and still sees a lot of use for the helm which is needed for the CoB helm, but the beacon stage of the grind can be turned down with no loss of effect. I am still working to complete the helm quest and I'm now in full T3 PoTA - seems a little off...

    Swamp:
Bleurgh. The area is vast spanning 4 chunks, and they are all absolutely deserted. Massive grind and mediocre rewards - avoid at all costs. Everywhere in this place looks the same. Mnalus Lair is slightly redeeming, good xp for a level appropriate group.

    ToT:
Great area, good rewards, fun. Lots of groups too. Great xp for the levels.
    NN:
Could find very little reason to enter this place. Rubbish xp with fairly tough mobs, labyrinth structure and underdeveloped quest lines

    OT:
Really enjoyed this place, but the armour takes too long to get. Would rather see the shields xp toned down and some more incentive to go inside and see this fun dungeon provided. The encounters are not very hard but introduce some more complex mechanics to group players which is great.

    PoTA:
Getting in, T1 trials = great.
    Faction is smooth and painless.
The platinum barrier seems very unnecessary. Many players will struggle to afford their armour, let alone their epic. Is there any reason this exists?
Re. earlier comments: Yes, PoTA armour is the best in the game, but no one is getting through it wearing Hunter's League armour unless they are in a group of 5 others that already have their epics.

To be quite frank though, there is plenty of pre 55 content. I don't see any reason to add more, when there are so many people stuck at 55 with next to nothing to do. Yes, it would be nice to develop some of these areas more that have great potential, but with the small development team VG has, this is only going to be at the expense of end game content.

Some of that is from those places being from a level 50 endgame with no raiding--swamp collects, RI beacons, that sort of thing would have been all you had to do. Similarly for PotA for 55 not planning on getting any development, just make it really long and expensive.

Graystone is not quite so bad. You do a couple of extra runs for people needing quests and just collect more insignias. Sort of like Thel, you get all the stuff and do a few more runs for some runes. NN you would need to do for griffon quest, like Tricksters for PotA, the former being mostly extinct and the latter usually relying on someone else.

Nobody ever used to do anything for xp. If it wasn't so liberal, going through repetitive stuff to level would not seem so bad. The whole thing's supposed to be a long process with slow progress, and without that, there isn't much left to appreciate.

Yes, no doubt you are right, Amnath. In fact the main problem with Greystone, at least for me, was that experience came too fast, making it hard to justify a grind. Of course, I don't base my entire enjoyment of the game based around xp, but I did post about it here because people seemed to be complaining that there was a lack of content to level from 40 to 55. I won't deny that I rushed to end game, but in a low population/top heavy game like Vanguard I find it better to do so and experience the journey more with alts.

It was a good stroke by the developers to make the CoB helm require the RI helm - making the RI grind just as relevant as it was on release and thus keeping people playing longer.

Did not know that about the helm.

I think the thread was originally about solo content and we pushed it to dungeons. In the example of Graystone, iirc you can start the quests at 37, and with no xp bonus you'd probably be grateful for multiple insignia runs--but as it is now, the content is outleveled and then you move on, most people do it that way on alts. Few days ago someone wanted me to go to DT on a 39. It's a level 30 dungeon. It's all out of balance. No lack of this type of stuff, just makes it easier to reach 55 and then feel like there's not much to do. This grand scheme is getting a player retention rate of about 1/20. Griffon quest for 45 was one of the most brilliant things *waves goodbye*.

The quest givers for the island with the Poisoned Cove is in The Fallen Cove chunk. There is a general goods vendor and others at an alter like camp with a Flaming Skull. Level 42-45 quests.

Oh neat. I figured that was just a hangout spot for the mobs and kept cruising along...
