I am a level 11 Artificer and choose Mineralogist. The crafting trainer in Khal sent me to Neamsog to speak to the crafting person inside the building. I have the quest to learn amateur crafting but need to supply my own materials of slate slabs and barbed wood. The recipes for slate slabs and barbed wood are on the trainer in Khal but I need amateur crafting to learn them. I can't learn amateur crafting unless I craft the items using the slabs and wood. These materials are expensive on the exchange. I know this can't be right and I'm missing something obvious, but I can't figure it out! I've gone back and forth several times between Khal and Neamsog talking to both the quest giver and trainer and nothing changes. Should I just buy the materials?
Yes, some not all quests require you to provide the resources unlike work orders which do not. Also, be careful when the quests require rare items - there are a few specialty quests that require this. What I did, was make sure I got my harvesting above my crafting so when I need the materials I could just harvest them. Good luck.
Thanks, Josh! I don't know why I thought there would be a way to complete the amateur quest without buying the materials but I did. Now I know why they are so expensive on the exchange! And thanks for the tip on the specialty quests, I'll remember that
Thinking there might be a slight confusion here. You will have to provide the raw resources (stones, timber, etc) for the crafting tier quests but not the refined resources (slate block, barbed wood, etc). The tier quest line shall always provide the refining recipes, as I think was also your initial thought Halanna. (The only time the recipes are not provided is if it gets bugged somehow. One advice here is to never have more than one crafting tier quest active at once.) The quest provided refining recipes are always sorted under Refining/Special Recipes in your recipe book.
Yes, I'm not sure what happened on this quest. I had the raw materials, but couldn't refine them into what I needed to make the 4 items for the quest. Maybe it was bugged somehow. I always get hung up passing from one chunk to another. The game sort of pauses for a few seconds. So maybe I just found a glitch. I don't know why it does that either, I have a new Alienware, the specs should far exceed the requirements of the game, but I seem to get frequent hitching, hiccuping, and other problems. Must be my internet connection is all I can think. Either way, I did complete the quest, after donating to other players on the exchange so it's sorted now. Thanks!
Chunking delay and death has always been part of the game for me as well as hitching - I've just gotten used to it over the years
Haha, yes, I'm getting used to it. I haven't died yet crossing over, but depending on where I am the delay always makes me hold my breath and hope I don't die!
Usually, you won't die chunking unless you're near mobs - kdq as example I've died quite a few times but they seem to have fixed that chunk. If I'm not mistaken it happens when a mob gets caught on the chunk and kills you before you reach the other side - at least that's what I think I was told.
