Goodbye to the best MMO I've ever played

Endless potential. That's what Vanguard has always meant. Every class was unique and fun. The world was huge and traversing it, dangerous. There was a true feeling of accomplishment in Vanguard because nothing was just handed to you. The world felt real in it's harshness.

Besides all the wonderful game play elements the game itself was beautiful. Constantly immersed in gorgeous, high-quality landscapes. Delighted with music that added atmosphere and depth. Drawn in by adventurous story-lines and truly epic quests.

Now the time has come to say goodbye. Your initial stumble out of the game is surely your downfall Vanguard. Sorely is how you'll be missed - by the last of the old school gamers, those of us seeking challenge, tedium, and for it, reward.

All our hopes now ride on an unwritten future. We hope for another "real" MMO to emerge, whisk us away to a land of myth and maybe. Let us forget our real world troubles and get lost in a fantasy of our own.

    Please, SOE, don't forget us.

Was very cool game. I played in Beta and followed for a good long while. It failed because they rushed it to completion without having a High End game. Once we all got to 50 they just could not, did not put content out fast enough to keep us entertained and people left. It is a great game though. I to hope to find another "Real" MMO to play someday. They all just cookie cutter money machines now days.

I must agree. Best game I ever played and most fun times with my Guild.
Only game out there that had the same fun factor as EQ for me.

Real sad to see that a good game like this got no attention from SOE.
Sadly i think we will never se a game like this again.

I want to belive that EQN can be as fun but i got a gut feeling it will not :(

I myself hope that Brad and the people who made VG get Another chance at a new MMO.

Agreed. With all its problems, Ive left and come back to this game more than any other. RIP

    Any chance of a VG2?

Same thing here Svann. As far as VG2, I would think there's a very little chance of that happening. With EQ being SOE's franchise game I doubt it would ever happen. Not that, that would be the only reason, but there is such change in directions of MMO's now. VG2 would definitely have to be a niche game. One can still hope, never say never, some trends get recycled or make a comeback. Zonon statement is right on, "Sadly I think we will never see a game like this again."

Truly the best gaming experiences I have ever had have been in Vanguard. It is sad to see it go but I have enjoyed my time here (as the game could have been shut down years ago). Plus I am still enjoying my time in Vanguard, till the end!

Vanguard was the true successor to the original Everquest vision, before EQ and most other MMORPG's became easy and bloated. I played VG for years on and off, returning every time when I wanted a challenge from my MMORPG's.

Diplomacy was enjoyable and totally different.

Crafting was very complex yet fulfilling compared to all other crafting systems to date.

Combat was enjoyable and different for every class.

    You will be missed Vanguard.

this is one MMO I will definitely miss! :)

but right now I'm playing Archeage. And honestly? It feels like a modern vangaurd imo. Ships, housing, awesome playerbase. It's only in alpha nowhere in the states, but I'm having a BLAST with it!

VG imo was the best mmo that I've ever played. There was just something about it that always drew me back lol And one it went free to play it was my main game for months until I went back to Wow with some friends. I mean yeah I had fun with wow for a while, but always logged back in to VG every once in a while to see how my old guild was doing.

I really, REALLY wish there was a way to save this game...hate to see it go..

I so completely agree...of every AAA title I've ever played, I always consider Vanguard to be the best. I haven't played an MMO since that feels this much like a real world to me. They have all become instanced themeparks more like Diablo and Sacred than MMOs like EQ and Vanguard. I will seriously miss this game.
