Tank balancing finished???

  1. I know a lot is going on right now, and there are some big problems the devs are working on--like the lag. That is why I have been waiting patiently without bringing this subject back up again. Still, seeing as how class balance IS being addressed right now (Druid), I felt it was appropriate to ask this question:
    Are you really finished with tank balance?? Please tell me that you are not. Like I have said before, I feel tank balance is getting as close as it has been in a very long time, but the job isn't quite finished yet! Don't stop now and leave the job unfinished! You are very close to having the classes very well-balanced! Please finish!
    Let me explain. When I see two or more equally geared tanks of different classes working hard on a mob, and I see aggro switching around between them, that is a good sign that the classes are well-balanced. It means that each tank is making roughly equivalent aggro, and the occasional big hit is enough to make aggro change between them. I don't think any tank would disagree with this.
    I have the opportunity to see all three tank classes, fairly equally geared (T3, epic, all aug slots that affect dmg and aggro creation filled appropriately with orange augs, RoRR, RoE, Absolute Dev. etc. very good weapons from end-game raid mobs) go head-to-head on mobs on a very regular basis, and here is what I have observed:
    When equally geared tanks of all three classes go-for-broke on a mob, inevitably I will see aggro pop back-and-forth between the Paladin and the Warrior, indicating to me that these two classes are fairly well balanced against each other. If there is any advantage there, I would have to give a tiny nod to the warrior, but the difference is small enough for me not to put a lot of faith in any belief that one is stronger than the other. It is a very competative fight for aggro you will see between these two. You will never see the DK pull aggro off either of these two other classes, not at all. This is not based on one occurance, but on seeing this match-up week-after-week, every week since the changes were made to Warriors and Paladins.
    I am not asking you for something that will take a lot of time or effort. The DK does not need a huge overall. We just need a boost to bring us within range of the other two tanks. I would suggest changing the cooldown on Hatred Incarnate from it's current ridiculously long cooldown of 10 minutes to 3 minutes--the same cooldown as Zeal. This one change may or may not be enough, but I know it will not be too much, and it would be quick and easy to simply change the cooldown with no other changes and let us give it a try.
    C'mon guys, give us this one thing and let us try it. Let's finish what we started!

  2. I hope it's not finished, otherwise DK's will now be the least played tank class.
    DK's are by no means g.imp but we really do need some work done on us to bring us into line with the revamps the Pally and Warrior received.
  3. i don't get why they can't give dread knights at least a similar increase in aggro bonus in defensive stance, like they did for warrior.
    can't be that hard.
  4. I have to say, I agree with Schiller.
    It was amazing to have my warrior as a useful tank again and I started playing him again after the last round of updates (still have the annoying animation though).
    While I believe that no one type of tank should be the "best" tank for all events, I currently see the DK as inhabiting the role that the warrior had for a number of years.
    My experience is that now in an all out fight; the aggro will ping back and forth between a Pally and a Warrior. I will certainly make my warrior available if it would help the devs tune warrior aggro vs a DK and I am sure there are many others - pallies and warriors - that would do the same.
  5. I wish they'd work on a classes that wanted updates (like DKs) over classes like Druid that don't.

  7. Bump. I hope that now their will be time to review how the changes that were made to Pally and Warrior have in the past have affected the balance of this archtype. It's buggered gentlemen. I like to think I am a pretty fair DK and I cannot compete with warrior or Pally now. I had given up, but will try once again to see if we can at least get some response to this issue.
  8. C'mon guys, at least let us know you are not abandoning tank balance altogether. Give us a word here.
    And while you are at it, just change the number on Hatred Incarnate from 10 minute refresh to 3 minute refresh, so it matches Zeal. It would probably take you about as long to do that as it did for me to make this post.
    Let us try this out and get back to you. Can't be that hard....
