Companions

EQ & EQ2 have had long and storied lives, but now the games (while still profitable) have passed their prime, and player count is not doing too well. In a game that focuses so much on group activity, and somewhat punishes solo play, they had the (in my opinion great) idea to introduce mercenaries. You basically just hire these merc's and they follow you around and heal or fight for you. It makes playing the game a lot more doable, especially for those poor rogues.

So idk, I know there's a pet you can get for a quest up near Bordinar's Cleft, but I think it runs out after 3 min and you have to go back for a new one. Great for a boss fight or something, but not too great otherwise. Would it be easy enough to add in some people or things, and make them like summon pets? Idk, that's why I'm asking.
