During this entire quest line, the second quest phase you get, the "Dumping the XXX", if you are in a levitated state, you are unable to dump the bodies. You must unlevitate to finish it.

Dumping the Dwarf, Quest ID 4233 as an example.

This is starting to become a common occurrence with any quest that you need to pick up or drop off an item.
Unable to pickup from a box during the quest:

Bugbear Jewels: Uncut Rage Rubies, Quest ID 4093

I believe Xinux is looking into this as it was previously bug reported.

In live, if you moved during any 'access timer' phase such as clickable in-world objects, it would break the access timer. Since levitate moves the character up and down, it's inadvertantly breaking the access timer. This has nothing to do with the specifics of what you're finding (Such as the Bugbear crates, or dumping an undead halfling over a bridge). It's the movement of the character with the access timer. This is something the devs will have to address as this is not a content issue.

Levitate issue is already fixed.
