Re: Quest question
I had accidently clicked through too far and signed up the their main website and not your wiki. Fixed now. I am clicking around in the unleashed vg wiki now. Am I missing something or does the index php main page not contain links to "quests", "Qalia", "crafting" for instance. I had to do some creative navigation in the footers to find a list for adventuring quests. I hope I'm doing this right? I am new to wikis (as an editor) also. I haven't tried to edit stuff yet, but if you say its ok to try..okay!

Re: Quest question
I can edit existing pages. How do you add a section to a page? I have found one missing a space for quest dialog "Unexpected Help".

Re: Quest question
Nevermind figured it out. Go to an existing section and start a new line with ==Title of Section== and save it.

Re: Quest question
Ok I broke it so on that note I will stop for the night. Heres what I did: In the pages navigator with all the quest name clicky links I tried to add a page for the quest "Task for Three Rivers: Beyond Khazbatak " and it added it at the top of that page as a non clicky category under quest adventuring level 11-20. I don't know how to fix it or remove it. Sorry I guess I can't add pages yet or maybe just don't know how. Sorry sorry sorry. I got half a dozen done before I messed it all up.
Oh a link to my goof - http://unleashedgaming.net/wiki/index.p ... el_11_-_20 Good night!

Re: Quest question
I haven't had a chance to set it up to be usable. Just Oncalupe and I have been trying to grab everything we can before it's all gone, which is why we've never publicly posted it.
I'm not really familiar with Wiki markup myself, which is why I haven't messed with it too much. But I'll see what I can do tonight to make it easier.

I'm not a designer or anything, so I have no idea how the main page should be laid out.

You don't need to edit the category list directly unless you're adding special info at the top. Categories in Wikis are created automatically by adding a tag to on specific page. Most quests currently in the wiki were imported by me from the official VG community wiki at http://vanguard.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
It seems the importing added the pages to the categories without using the tags, so they're not showing up on the page edit screens like they usually do. To add a quest, just create a new page and put the proper category link at the very bottom. The page will automatically be added to the category list. Category links are formatted like this: [[Category:Category Name]]
You can add multiple category links, just keep them each in their own set of square brackets.
As with Jakkal, I'm also not familiar with Wiki markup, so the only suggestion I can really give right now is to just open an existing page, either on our wiki or another Wikia based site, and click the Edit/View Source button to see how they have it all setup and how formatting works. There is also the help section on the main Wikia site: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Contents
The only thing special that we have currently over basic setup is the template for the quest info that shows up on the right side. That's all info formatted in a specific way at the top of the quest page.

Re: Quest question
If you find it easier to just use a forum, you can put it on Unleashed's forum too. Kay and I can try to put it in the wiki later. I own Unleashed's site, so barring unforseen disaster, I won't be taking it down. So at least this won't be lost.

We're only doing it off this site to give John the chance to focus just on the emulator while we work on content gathering but also so it can be used later for the public while they're playing the emulator.

Re: Quest question
I have been reading the help section this morning and figured out how to make a page but haven't figured out how to make the page link to the pages with all of the other links under the categories. I assume some day I will get there but I have to take breaks every little bit to keep my eyes from crossing while I try to make sense of it all. It would be really helpful if they put the directions at the top of the page as to what you need to do where. I have to type something in and save it and see what it looks like and where it shows up, which is slow. Might be easier to store things in the forum for now until someone who is wiki saavy can move it or explain things in laymans terms to me.

Re: Quest question
After some thinking on it it doesnt seem the forum will have enough parent/ child levels to keep things organized. So the wiki might just be the better way. You guys did a stellar job with the stuff you have in there so far. I just can't figure out how you did some things. And I am not making much sense out of their help section on the subject of linking a page to a catagory after/before/during its creation. So I can create pages, but they don't show up with the rest of the pages linked in the category of (lets say) quests. I also can't figure out how you guys got that nifty box to display to the right side of the pages that has the additional information. I had to add extra sections to my pages to cover things like starting location etc. Does this make sense? Anyway before I bugger it further I will wait and see what you guys have to say.

Re: Quest question
Ok latest update. I managed to get the nifty box to appear by copying some code in the edit section of another page then just changed the info in it line by line to match the correct quest data. Somehow in doing this is also managed to add itself to the adventuring quest category and created a clicky link. Not at all sure how I did it but it worked. Maybe in the next day or two I will have a lightbulb moment and figure out how to do it for real and not by accident. So here is the page I did from scratch: http://unleashedgaming.net/wiki/index.p ... for_Varlon
