Details:
When I unequip an item, it always goes in the first empty inventory slot, even if it was unequipped automatically by equipping a new item in the same slot. I'm pretty sure released VG did not work this way. In released VG, for example, if I had a cloak with lev on it in the first slot of my backpack, and I right clicked the lev cloak to equip it, the cloak I was wearing would unequip into the same slot as the lev cloak had equipped from. This made it easy to switch among items. If the unequipped item goes into an unpredictable slot, then re-equipping it is more difficult, as you have to hunt around your inventory to see where it wound up.

As far as I had it, it behaved the way you say it should behave. I haven't been in-world for a while but it certainly did unequip to the same slot in the inventory. I did it (what seemed like) a million times in different combinations. If I ever get my life back to normal and get caught up I'll check on it.

I went back and double checked, and it definitely works the way I described it in the bug report. Even in the main inventory, if an item is in slot 1 and you double-click to auto equip, the old item is unequipped into slot 2, leaving slot 1 empty.

Should be fixed now. Looks like it got a little weird somewhere in the process but seems good now. Please let me know if you see any odd behavior--it was more than a little fix to make it right and may cause other issues (although I tried to spot problems myself and it seems fine).

Haha there was a hell of a lot of new things to get up to date before I could even look at the code, as well as creating new characters, recreating my server, getting permissions, and so on. It looks like I am jumping back in right in the middle of chaos!
