Re: DaybreakGames official agreement with Project 1999
Hopefully with Unreal going free below $3k, this will remove some of the roadblocks. Really anything they could give us would be a help. I can understand not officially giving out their server code, but the db (even partially would be awesome). It is taking a lot more time to fix/organize the db than to code in features.
Re: DaybreakGames official agreement with Project 1999
Wasn't the problem with VG is the Unreal engine? So they cannot give permission without also getting permission from Epic games, who isn't going to authorize it without getting their percentage of the profits (which their isn't any, but I don't think they care).
Re: DaybreakGames official agreement with Project 1999
Well I reached out to Smedley again to see if there stance on at least releasing the data (items, quests text, spawns etc etc) has changed since I talked to them last.
Re: DaybreakGames official agreement with Project 1999
Did you ever hear back from Rogean or did you just reach out to Smed's old contact info? I won't get too excited over our possibilities but its nice to dream!
Thanks Xinux.
Thanks Xinux.

We'll get there Jakkal. As a teaser, on my dev server, I got animation timers working tonight. You can expect to see preliminary ability usage with actual buffing in the next 2 weeks I would think.

I'm really excited for you guys. This news about P99 is huge. Did you see the interview on Ten Ton Hammer with Smedley?
http://www.tentonhammer.com/interview/e ... hn-smedley
Smedley - "What we recently announced with Project 1999 is the first time we've ever endorsed one of these emulators, and I am really proud of that deal. We never could have done that at Sony. It is really important to us because I never want to paint these emulator guys as anything but our number one fans and the hardest working people I've ever met. So to be able to support it officially like we have, it makes me feel good. I'd like to think that those are the kind of people I would hang with, and those are good people."
Veluux - On that note, does that open the door for other modders and emulators to start projects for Star Wars Galaxies, Vangaurd, or any other former or current properties for these kinds of experiences?
Smedley - So Star Wars Galaxies isn't ours. That's a Lucas call entirely. So we're not road-blocks on that. What I will say though, is that we will support people who do it right. On the SWG side, there were some who weren't. There were source code issues - and we need to look at that a little tighter, but in general if people want to do it right we will support them.

Re: DaybreakGames official agreement with Project 1999
That does sound like a promising response! Hopefully he is not just talking about passive support (i.e. official recognition). Anything they could release to us would speed things along, I'm sure.
Re: DaybreakGames official agreement with Project 1999
Oh my goodness, that's great news! Though I wonder what kind of support they offer? Is it nothing more than a nod to the emulators and not threatening to shut them down, or would they actually, actively give some input?
