Fix stairs
One of the most annoying thing was how stairs sort of did not work right.
I wonder if that is actually fixable?

Re: Fix stairs
+1 here. Still annoying till this day.
Re: Fix stairs
Easily fixable if we can implement map changes with Unreal Ed, all takes is an addition of an invisible brush (aka low poly collision boundary). Very simple if we can edit, compile and update chunks with UnrealEd (I know Unreal Ed pretty well, even have custom keybinds for tool commands).

You just made my Raki Rogue very happy!

Re: Fix stairs
It is amazing they did not fix this during its life span. Really probably is a 30 second fix for the standard straight stair model that they reuse and they could just keep copying it. Later versions of Unreal Ed allowed you to couple a collision boundary with the model in question instead of having to place one or copy one from scratch.

Re: Fix stairs
^ Thats because for a long time, VG did not have an artist on the dev team. When SOE DID have one, they primarily created crap for the in-game store. It was never considered a real priority to fix the stairs. Also would love to see tails added to the animal races. This is something that was promised to be added on in Beta and then hinted at again when the game went F2P but they never followed through on it.

Re: Fix stairs
Client tweaks we cannot do, but you guys certainly can. It would be nice to see what you come up with down the road.

Would fixing stairs be a client tweak?

Re: Fix stairs
If Ily's idea is to fix it in unreal scripts, that's the client. I do not see the World code fixing topography issues, that's all client stuff. Unless we give everyone moon jump and make each step cause them to float 6" above the ground
Re: Fix stairs
Like John said, editing the topography of a map file is part of the client.. however I saw mention of adding a brush. We don't have support for it yet but I think we technically "can" send brushes as actors. So if we knew the details of a brush to fix a certain set of stairs, we could possibly send it as a spawn and that would be something the project could support. Hypothetical.
