VGOEmulator - Post Sunset Plans
All,
Immediately after we lose the Live Vanguard Server I am calling an official "Time Out".
The developers, analyzers, and especially our Data Collectors have run themselves ragged these last 5 mos, and once collecting is no longer an option we all need to decide where to go from there. Before we do, I'm asking everyone take a breather, recover from any burn-out and come back fresh and strong in Aug 2014. This does not mean a cessation of development activities here; it merely means, you've all done an amazing job - take some time to think of what part of this project you want to dedicate yourself to next, and come back refreshed and with a new mission.
The team and I have not yet discussed our post-sunset activities, because I did not want to distract them from their current efforts. We will start our planning on or about Aug 1, 2014. It will not be a long discussion, because we all pretty much know what needs to be done - we'll just make it official (planning topics and ProjMan updates). My "crystal ball" says our next efforts may be centered around:

- stabilizing in-game content and memory management[/*2yq64z4f]
- developing more interaction in-game (commands)[/*2yq64z4f]
- and maybe some remedial gameplay functionality[/*2yq64z4f][/list:u]
These are my hopes for the remainder of 2014 at least. I'm sure there will be more, which is what we'll need to discuss as a team.
I will be needing Content Designers soon, so any unemployed Collectors see me if you're interested in this next phase of Content. Collectors knowledge of the game will be invaluable moving into the "chunk building" stage, so my hope is to retain as many collectors as possible in their new role as Content Designers.
