Seems Aradune is back at it with what appears to be a Vanguard do-over. At any rate a new generation of "Vanbois" seems to be in the making with McQuaid's latest shot at making the "Vision(tm)" a reality

For anyone who was around when Sigil first started on VG, you get a very similar vibe off the site (and its hard not to look at the videos and see how much VG is in there)

Very much aware of it, but have little to no faith in Brad's ability to manage his way out of a paper bag at this point.

The man is an excellent ideas guy but his managerial skills are (historically) lacking. He really needs someone who'll take over the management of his projects and just let him churn out ideas. He mismanaged Vanguard into the ground and he's done some pretty big bumbles with Pantheon already.

That said, I do wish them well and hope they make something good. I'm just not holding my breath.

Kora, that's exactly what he did with this project. He doesn't manage any of the money/business side of things personally so he can focus 100% on developing the game, all his reasons for the outcome of Vanguard check out completely and alot of it(though not ALL of it) was out of his hands. Though he did and still does have a problem with managing money I have faith in him on this one, the fact that VG even happened after the lay offs, management changes, and the new management pushing the release date back 6-9 months is amazing to me. He did however have a big ego because of the success of EQ, which made him think that anything he touched would turn to gold, and also made VG's system reqs unreasonably high(alot of that was just lack of optimization due to the deadline being pushed up so far) Had they had more time it would've been as great, or greater than EQ imo.

He's not without his faults, but he is a damn great game dev and I think he's learned to play to his strengths for this one. I've been keeping my optimism as reserved as I can, but everything I've been seeing over the last couple months has made that exceedingly difficult.

Definitely has a high fantasy VG feel to it. It might be worth a look at once it comes out, but I'm honestly a thousand times more looking forward to a finished VG emu, no matter how long it takes. It's kinda sad how I anticipate a shut down game to come back to life more than actual new games coming out.

Just looked around at some convo's there...I quit following it a long time ago when they wanted to charge money for the forum; now that it appears open again, it's kinda...Vanguard with better graphics, and some confusion. I mean, I gave them all kinds of cool suggestions about what would be a better name than Dread Knight, and a year later they roll out Dire Lord. Meh.

I didn't see the Elemental race that excited me previously, although they came up with "Skar" and "Archai" that look fairly cool...plus most of the basic ones seen in any game. Solo content is going to be pretty slim, and, while I don't go to an MMO to exclusively solo it, I also don't go on to LFG for ten minutes until getting irritated with it. There must be hundreds of titles now that can accomplish this for you, but I don't think you can beat a hand crafted PuG or a good guild to develop groups in a smoother, though slower, manner, instead of--I just logged in, can someone help me kill this trash mob?

Raiding is kinda up in the air, some people seemed happy with Vanguard's system, others want groups of 75, contested raids, fixed spawns, random spawns, all those kind of variables. It's probably something they need to plan out soon, before getting into a situation where people play for a year and then quit because they hate the "surprise" raid system. Since I know the Vanguard system and it suits me perfectly well, I too am looking more towards its resurrection even without raiding at release, and I'd rather have this, and just give Pantheon a "maybe" until or unless it comes up with something that would convince me more than just a newer look.

This is all wait and see for me, nothing to get excited about. Now Camelot Unchained, that is something to get excited about with someone who has a proven track record.
