Tier Quests

These are the quests that you must complete in order to learn recipes.

The Tier quests take place at level 11, 21, and so on, and allow you to learn more recipes from your trainers. Along with the completion of the quest, you gain a new title. From Novice, you go to Amateur, Apprentice, and upward through the ranks until you reach the top of your profession. Expect your crafting profession to change as you increase in level through each ranks, with the process slowly changing and becoming even more complex.

PLEASE NOTE: the amateur (level 11) quest is NOT the same thing as the specialization quest. These both take place at level 11, but they are two separate things. Many people assume that because they chose their specialization they are now amateur crafters and should have new recipes, only to be sadly disappointed, not to mention confused.

Crafters should be pointed to the location of their particular tier quest by their normal trainers once they reach the level needed. I have however heard multiple people say that they weren't getting a quest like this - I'm not sure if they ever found out why, if it was the same issue, if they made a mistake, or what. This info should help out though, not only for such cases, but also for times when you have a not-very-helpful location in the quest log, along the lines of "go to that one continent, you know, the one with the rivers, and trees and things, and look for your trainer."

Also note: when you are asked to craft an item for these quests, these are not workorders. You must supply your own materials, so be prepared!

Along with unlocking recipes, completing each tier quest gives you (I believe! Please correct me if this is wrong!) 50 continental artisanal faction, as well as some amount of crafting experience.

Artificers:

Amateur (level 11-20)
Talk to Milakesh Noradu in Ca'ial Brael, then craft some simple items as requested, turning them in when you are done.
Additional Reward: Resonating Dust (???)

Apprentice (level 21-30)

Speak with Milakesh Noradu in Ca'ial Brael, and then go to Tanvu. Talk to Alasani Takon in Tanvu for recipes, and make 4 Wood Grip and 2 Wood Shaft (using 6 Dry Boards).
Additional Reward: faction and choice of a focusing powder that regens energy or hit points

Amateur (level 11-20)

Locate Karenda Bluewine on the westernmost pier in Dallerjuba Village, north across the bay from Tanvu. He asks you to make two sets of three easy items. You need at least nine tin ore, and use the "special recipe" for tin ingots and sheets for the quest.

Apprentice (level 21-30)

Speak to Kimaka Rett in Martok. Next visit the blacksmith master in Ca'iael Brael, Lakash Daykete, and craft 2 special hilts, 4 special hafts. You need your own Iron Ingots!! Return them to NPC in Martok
Added Reward: Resonating Powder of Rejuvination or Renewal; 10,000 crafting XP. +50(or 100) Kojan Continental Artisan Faction

Outfitters:

Amateur (level 11-20)

Locate (???) at Gaxton Village. The quest tells you that he is on the outskirts of Martok, but in this case "outskirts" equates to "way over in the neighboring village to the west." The NPC in question is a goblin, hanging out at the very eastern edge of the village. He will ask you to craft 5 leather gloves. Do so, and give them to him to complete your amateur training.

Apprentice (level 21-30)

Speak with Oranku Sendaken, the Master Outfitter in Tanvu. He sends you to Kef Jortul in Martok to receive a recipe. Craft the items that he asks for (stiff leather and then 5 leather stappings from the leather - 10 stiff hides required total) and return them to Oranku.
Additional Rewards: ??? Crafting Experience; +100 Kojani Continental Artisan Faction (+50 for non-natives???); Focusing Dust of Arcane Resistance OR Regeneration

She sends you to Sarin Talah in the crafter's area of Hathor Zhi; hail for recipes. Craft 3 Wood Grip and 3 Wood Shaft and hand them in.

Find Narijar Daldan at Dark Horse Downs (it's not far south of Lomshir, you'll see it on your map.) She'll ask you for 2 Qalian Metal Armguards and 2 Qalian Metal Blades (if you're a weaponsmith), so bring at least 8 tin ore.

Apprentice (level 21-30)

Find Valer Thanul in Ahgram (she's the same one who gives you your Qalian style quest, the blacksmith instructor in Ahgram.) She'll send you to Carul in Lomshir to get recipes for the things she wants-- the NPC's name is actually Aslak Carul so don't run around trying to /tar Carul. When you talk to Carul you'll get the recipes to make everything Valer wants. Weaponsmiths need to make 5 metal short hafts and 1 metal small hilt (actually called iron short haft and iron short hilt, but it recognizes them fine), so be sure to have at least 6 iron ore on you. Take the items back to Valer in Ahgram.

Visit Ravnul Greska in Neamsog Bunker. Craft the 2 Qalian Ratty Leather Boots and 4 Qalian Ratty Leather Bracers you are asked to make, and return them to the questgiver for the amateur title.
Additional Rewards: Resonating Dust of Health OR Hexes; +50 Qalian Continental Artisan Faction

Apprentice (level 21-30)

Qalia - Speak with the Master Outfitter Alibaan Delzard in a side room of the crafting area in Ahgram. As requested, go to Khal and speak with the Master Outfitter there to receive the leather strapping and refining recipes, and craft the 5 stiff strappings needed to complete the quest before returning ot Ahgram. 10 Stiff Hides are needed.
Additional Rewards: Focusing Dust of Arcane Resistance OR Regeneration; (???) Crafting Experience; +100 Qalian Continental Experience (+50 for Non-Natives)

Speak to Linnike Velra (Artificer Instructor) in New Targonor's crafting area, inside a building. You are sent to Leth Nurae to speak with Tirame Welsare. Craft 2 Wood Grip and 4 Wood Shaft from the recipes she gives you, and return them to Linnike.
Additional Reward: Focusing Powder of Regeneration OR Renewal; 10,000 Crafting Experience; +100 Thestra Continental Artisan Faction (+50 for non-natives)

Go to Three Rivers Village, and speak with Resanna Greywing, behind the smithy in the main town. Make 3 Thestran Blades and 3 Thestran Sabatons, using at least 9 tin ore. Use the special recipes received for the quest.

Apprentice (level 21-30)

See Grodek in New Targonor. He'll send you to Carind Seaforge in Bordinar's Cleft to get the recipes for some things he wants you to make. Once you talk to Carind, you can make the necessary 1 metal short haft and 5 metal small hilts-- but make sure you have at least 6 iron ore with you. Return to Grodek in New Targ to give him your shiny new hafts and hilts and voila.

Outfitters:

Amateur (level 11-20)

For this quest, go to Renton Keep and find Tobby Fitch in the northeast tower. He will ask you to craft (???). There are two outfitter stations that you can use within the same room, although they have nonstandard names. Craft the items right there if you like, then turn them in.

Apprentice (level 21-30)

Speak to the Master Outfitter Romandar Whitebeard in New Targonor. From there, travel to Halgarad to learn from the Outfitter Instructor, Casja Regand. Make 5 leather strappings (containing 10 stiff leather/hides total) and turn them in.
Additional Rewards: Focusing Dust of Arcane Resistance OR Regeneration; ??? Crafting Experience; +100 Thestran Continental Artisan Faction (+50 for non-natives)

Continental Styles

The continental style quests allow you to learn another continent's style (surprise surprise). Each continent's style adds a few specific effects to the armor and weapons crafted in that style, with the effect from each piece growing as a character dons more equipment of that same style. There is also a slightly different look for the different styles when they're worn, for those who care about the aesthetics (which, let's face it, is most of us to some extent).

To learn a continent's style you need to do the style quest. That's not the end of it though: just like on your home continent, you need to complete that continent's tier quest to learn recipes of a given tier while you're in that land, plus you also need at least 100 continental artisanal faction for each tier that you're learning. So to learn novice recipes on Thestra you must complete its quest and have 100 Thestran Artisan faction, then to learn Amateur recipes you would need 200 faction and Thestra's Amateur quest, 300 faction and the quest for Apprentice, and so on.

The style quest starting NPCs are found in the same general location on Thestra and Qalia for each crafting class, with only Kojan splitting them up. After visiting the starting NPC you then need to visit 3 other cities in that continent before returning to the original NPC, along with a few crafted items made from your own materials. Be wary, as most likely at least one city will be KOS to your race, requiring that you grind that city's faction in some way to get in, unless you want to do a lot of careful sneaking around. Since you'll need the artisanal faction for the continent anyhow in order to learn recipes, it's usually best to kill two or more birds with one stone and grind Work Orders in an outpost or two for a while, to raise all kinds of faction that you need.

Along with unlocking the continent's style, each style quest also gives (again, I believe, so correct me if I'm wrong) 50 faction for the continent's artisans, as well as crafting experience.

Recipe Quests

These are the quests needed in order to learn certain recipes, and are broken down by crafting class as well as continent. This is especially skimpy as most of the quests are higher-level and class-related and thus harder for one person to find. Especially when I'm only an Amateur Leatherworker at the moment. Give it time.. and help out if you can!

Quest: Kojan Sails(??)
Starting NPC: Perun
Location: Ca'ial Brael, Hall of the Artisans
Prerequisite: Level 21
Reward: Recipe: Kojani Sails

Actual quest starts with "Practice Firegrass ropes" followed by "practice firegrass riggings" if you have not learned the general ropes and riggings recipes yet. If you have already learned ropes and riggings on another continent you will only have to comeplete "Practice Kojani Sails" to be able to make, duh, Kojani sails.

Starting NPC: Grazeel
Location: Tursh, behind the crafting barn
Task: Deliver a note for the kobold, then deliver the reply
Reward: Recipe: Gwartak Clan Armor; Unlocked Work Orders from Grazeel ; (??faction/exp?)

Locate the kobold crouched behind the crafting barn and speak to him. It seems that he is a crafter himself and wants to be welcomed into the crafting area, but he keeps getting chased off. Agree to deliver a note for him, and you get a compass marker to a guardsman (???), very close by. Speak to him, and you receive grudging permission for the kobold to come and go. Return to the kobold, and in gratitude he teaches you an artificer recipe.

Materials Quests

This is a name I've given to quests that all follow the same general pattern: Talk to the NPC to be given a list of things they want, craft or procure them (usually it's one item needed from each of the three main crafting classes), turn them in for a reward. These rewards are often nice pieces of crafting equipment to wear that raise your skills or stats significantly, although they may also be special utilities or tools. Sometimes you may also get items intended to be sold to vendors for cash, along with various faction boosts and possibly even crafting experience.

NOTE: Many people have trouble completing these quests with weapons or armor that aren't from the same continental style that the quest takes place on. For instance, for the Studies of Iallos Quen quest in Leth Nurae, you will probably need a Thestran staff to complete the quest. This may or may not be a bug, we'll see if it changes (or at least gets spelled out in quest logs). Also some people have problems getting even the right items to update in their quest log - relogging, or selling to a merchant and buying them back, or putting them in a bank and taking them out may all work, and get the items to update the quest correctly.

Starting NPC: Engran Hearthwarden (Shaletooth Master Artisan)
Location: Shaletooth Tower, near Bardinar's Cleft. If you approach Bardinar's Cleft after crossing Themwar's Shield from the east, continue on the road. It will turn south past a lake and dead-end at Shaletooth Tower.
Items Needed: Artificers - 5 Drifter's Clubs, 5 Mystic's Staves; Blacksmiths - Unknown; Outfitters - 3 Charlatan's Shoes, 3 Charlatan's Armguards
Reward: 1s; your choice of level 10 crafting tool based on your occupation: a refining tool with +2 Tool Effectiveness and +1 Shaping Tools or a complication tool with +3 Tool Effectiveness; your choice of level 8 artisan apparel: Shaletooth Workshirt, +4 Ingenuity, +14 Crafting Station Use or Shaletooth Workpants, +4 Ingenuity, +12 Crafting Utility Use.
Notes: (I got the name "Shaletooth Armor" for this quest? I assume it changes for each profession, so any blacksmiths care to give it a try and let us know what it's called, and what you need to make?) This quest can be repeated to get both weapons, and both the shirt and the pants.

Other Quests

These are the quests that don't quite fall into the other categories. Like Materials Quests they usually give some sort of concrete award in the way of a nice crafting item, but they don't follow the usual pattern of "get these various items made by the different crafter types, turn them in." Sometimes you may be asked to take an item given to you by the NPC and repair it at a crafting station, and other times you might be asked to do something entirely different.

Prerequisite: Crafting Level 20(ish???) (I can't pick up this quest yet, at crafting level 20, and I'm a Ca'ial Brael native so faction shouldn't be an issue)
Task: Find Kanni in the Wailing Wind Asylum and speak with her. Search for the Rakhane, a legendary polearm, on the skeletons in the area. (I found it on one near Kanni, on the edge near the cliff. Not sure if the location changes.) Speak with Kanni again and return to a crafting station to repair the weapon, returning it to Kanni in Ca'ial Brael when you are finished.

Notes: This quest asks you to "repair" various points around the Cleft, but in game terms all you need to do is run close to them, and perhaps stand still for a moment. The four areas are: the main gate into the city, the statues outside the king's hall and in the main hall, and the railings near the entrance (underground between the outside area and main hall). If you're pretty sure you're near the right spot, try shifting your location slightly and standing still, and eventually you should see the "repaired" message appear on your screen.

Quest: The Captain's Old Sword
Starting NPC: Osmal Maradin
Location: Rindol Field (if you enter from the east, he's off to your right a ways, uphill and along a path)
Prerequisite: 25 Tursh and Rindol Field Artisan Faction (can anyone confirm?) Artisan Level 12 (confirm?)
Task: Repair the sword given to you (doable by all crafting classes).
Reward:Osmal's Ring (Heroic): lv. 15 left finger, +8 Crafting Tool Use

This quest is suggested and notable because it gives one of the few (thus far) pieces of jewelry useable by crafters, and is the prerequisite for a second such quest. The task is simple: take the sword given to you by Osmal and refurbish it., using your craft's finishing station.

Since most people won't have Rindol Field Artisan Faction going into this quest, you can gain some by performing Work Orders for a few individuals, such as Osmal himself, or Fest in the Tursh Inn. You can also gain more faction by grinding normal Work Orders within the Fisher's Pen outpost, a short trip to the north of Tursh.

Note: I was told that before you get this quest you should talk to Fest in the Tursh Inn to get his Lucky Dice - I don't know if this actually does have anything to do with the quest or not though, or if it's just a red herring. So far, evidence learns toward the red herring suspicion.

Quest: The Fate of Captain Umbertroe
Starting NPC: Osmal Maradin
Location: Rindol Field
Prerequisites: Complete "The Captain's Old Sword," attain Crafter level 15 and 50 Tursh and Rindol Field Artisan Faction
Task: Discover the fate of Captain Kasey Umbertroe.
Reward: Rindol's Field Medal (Legendary): lv. 20 left ear, +13 Finishing Skills, Halfling Hero effect (+5 Problem Solving, +5 Reasoning, +5 Ingenuity, +5 Finesse); Bag of Jewels (??correct name?) (apparently meant only to be sold to vendor); Recipe for Seer's Amulet (gained during quest but not removed from the recipe book.);??faction/experience?

This quest is again good because it gives you one of the few bits of crafting jewelry, in this case probably the first Heroic item most people will be able to obtain. Once you've finished with the lead-in quest and are at least crafting level 15, talk to Osmal again about the much-admired Captain Umbertroe. She's disappeared into parts unknown, and the people of the village (Osmal very much included) want to know of her whereabouts. The only suggestion that Osmal has to give you is that she first left for Renton Keep, and that you might try to pick up her trail there.

Go next to Renton Keep, and speak to Riley McLare, the Utility Vendor within the northeast tower. She gives you the idea of conferring with one of the Vulmane seers to find the halfling's location, and sends you of to Dakhnarg.

Before you go on this leg of the trip, make sure you have a rare item from your crafting class, as you'll need it once you reach the town. The list of required items is (Carpenter and Minerologist required items may currently be switched):

(obviously, this needs to be filled out. I'm guessing by the fact that Minerologists need timber that it's by class rather than specialization, but can anyone confirm? Ie: Any tailors who had to bring along a Scraggy Hide?)

Once in Dakhnarg, find ??? just past the crafting area and speak with her. She tells you that she can perform the task once you create a Seer's Amulet for her to use, at which point she gives you the recipe. You can craft the item yourself, or use one crafted by another player. Be forewarned that this recipe is difficult: you now need a high quality item (quality A?) to successfully make it, and a bad run of complications could make your rare item go *poof*.

Once you have an amulet speak to the seer, who takes the amulet and performs the ritual needed. She tells you of her vision: she sees Kasey Umbertroe in a land filled with sand and sun, ie: probably Qalia. The quest is complete at this point - you DO NOT have to track the halfling down in Qalia itself, at least not for this quest. (As it seems a bit of a cliffhanger, this may or may not be the end of the chain in the long run, but it is the end of this quest.) Return across Thestra to Osmal to collect your hard-earned reward.

This is a section for the quests in Lomshir (and New Targonor?) that require you to choose a house and perform Work Orders for them, each giving separate rewards. I don't have much info on these yet, and haven't reached that level myself, since they require level 21 (?) Crafting. More info to be added as it's obtained.
