I remember that getting this guy to spawn in live was problematic for me. He's still not spawning for me. Is there some trick to getting him to appear?

He's always up. He has a giant path. He doesn't spawn for the quest (And didn't in live either). You just have to go find him. It helps to swim around and use /tar Matu (I think that's his name) until it shows up as an offensive target.

I've been thinking about moving him so he has a regular path near the coast since this is a problem and has been a problem in live as well.

Thanks for the prompt response. That certainly explains a lot. Wouldn't actually vote for changing it. Just wanted to make certain I wasn't missing a step. Rarity doesn't bother me only impossibility.

Shark Vanquished. Be prepared to expand your search zone quite a bit and to dive deep. I'm told its also advisable in this type of situation to bring a bigger boat.
