I haven't had much time to simply wander through the world lately, but tonight I was testing a few things and ran into something I am astonished to think I have never seen before. This has to have a name

I came upon a rocky cliff and was standing there looking out over the vast landscape, when I suddenly realized I saw what looked like a face carved in the rock.

I threw myself off the top and turned around, and saw the entire cliff had huge figures chiseled into the stone. It actually took my breath away for a second.

The grandeur of the landscapes in this game, among other things, keep me doing what I'm doing

I used to enjoy looking at that every time I flew past on my way from Celestial Ward (Wardship of the Sleeping Moon) to Konarthi Point for a Crafting quest or boat building session.

This is why I'd just spend hours flying around and doing nothing else. It was really relaxing.

There is another one in the Cave of Wonders in a grove that has some waterfalls. Pretty cool.

i started my mmorpg experience back in everquest beta i then stayed with everquest until last year i did alot of hard core raiding on mith marr drinal fironia and test server throughout the years and have had the pleasures of raiding with the faceless and after life when all this was happening at some point in time this game had been released and i never had the time with raids and bat phone to ever step into the world of vanguard and experience the game, so i am here now to see what its all about, curiosity is what brought me.

I too got my start in EQ. It was a life altering experience. I was visiting my brother who was in college and worked a lot and I needed something to pass the time. He heard about Everquest releasing that week so he sent me to buy it so that I could play it while he was gone. From that point on I have been involved in MMO's one way or another. I played EQ until Vanguard released, I tried some other games in between but always fell back to EQ.

Vanguard was released with what many know as serious game breaking bugs. Some friends and I struggled through it for awhile, I relied heavily on exploring the massive beautiful world of Telon and harvesting to pass most of my time. Accumulating massive amounts of wealth of course but it was fun to me. I went back and forth between EQ and VG and the more VG got polished the more it (for lack of a better term) weened me off of EQ. After 9 or 10 long years I was finally away from EQ and into VG full time.

I always played Wizards. They were it for me, the glass cannons, the heavy bombers. Then came Vanguard's Bard. I loved it. Was hooked almost instantly. In my opinion the most beautiful and massive world had spawned this unbelievable rendition of a class I always thought to just be a side box. I played my bard all the way to 55 and raided basically every target VG had to offer until it's final day in the sun. I had many characters, many crafters, all had diplomacy maxed as well. It was just such an amazing in depth full of life game. And unfortunately most of the MMO world never got to see what it had become.

You see some people think SoE is the devil, but I have to disagree, they took this broken down game and weaved their way through its complex coding and managed to create good content and further polish it into what I consider the most well rounded game ever made. I always told my friend who I play MMO's with if they would have taken Vanguard the day they shut it down, and renamed it, started some hype about it then released it under a completely new name they would have sold a ton of copies. I really hope that you guys are able to get this game fully functional. Many others like myself will find their way here and be in for the ride of their life. I hope it leads to an abundance of healthy donations and the people working on it get the fruits of their labor they deserve.

Your story sounds identical to mine, its scary, except for a few minor differences.
When I first bought EQ, I remember riding my bike to Comp USA (I was in 9th grade IIRC) and buying this cool looking game called Everquest. I brought it home, started it up, and didnt realize it required a "monthly subscription." WTF is a monthly subscription I thought to myself? What a ripoff. I shelved EQ for the next few months until my mom let me put recurring charges on her CC and I played it. Hooked since that point.

The first character I made in Vanguard was a bard, and although i didnt hit 55 on the bard first, I loved it so much. I ended up making a PSI as my first 55 (well, 50 at the time before the lvl cap increase). I want this place to succeed so badly.

I played Ultima Online the first week it was released. I moved on to Asherons Call. I got EQ2 and WOW and Vanguard when they launched but for some reason only WOW would reliably play on my computer. After years of playing WOW I returned to Vanguard and it was mostly working. Unfortunately I only had about a year and a half with it before they pulled the plug. Of all the games Vanguard has been the most enjoyable and interesting. Due to professional and family obligations I don't get to game much, so most of my gaming experience has been as a solo player. SO I have only scratched the surface of what Telon had to offer. I never thought I would get a second chance. Then I stumbled across this project. I actually joined it almost from the beginning but rarely could log in. Then the login changed and as a computer illiterate I absolutely couldn't get back in.. Recently my daughter fixed this problem. I'm back hopefully to stay for many years and eventually play this game as it was meant to be played in a group. I guess the point of this rambling message is thanks.

I owe Brad McQuaid so much. He literally changed my life. I never met you Sir, but rest in peace. Your 'vision' will be missed.

I started playing Everquest in 1999. Met my now wife in game and moved to the USA. I played Anarchy Online, DAoC, Asheron's Call, EQ2 and WoW. I saw Vanguard come out and saw it was a big disaster so it was a few years before I tried it. By then It was part of the Game Pass. We were burnt out on EQ2 so gave it a try and were hooked. I was heartbroken when it shut down in 2014 as it was a game I loved to come back to.

So I am here to just enjoy playing Vanguard again. Subsequent MMOs have failed to scratch that classic itch that old school EQ and Vanguard filled so I completely stopped playing them. Now, thanks to you I can 'waste' my free hours again with a big smile on my face!
