Very intriguing and thought-provoking topic. I thank you all for taking the time to be considerate of the potential issues that could be a real game-changer for us unexpectedly. With under 10 players connected, ever, I cannot really determine the "cost" related to network and system performance so I am waiting until we have a more playable game that brings players in consistently. Only then can I rest easy that our little server will "carry the weight".

I would love to be faced with a reality that there will be 1,000 simultaneous players someday, but I don't think even VG Live had that So currently, I'm not too worried.

Forgot I made this thread!

Yep now that I understand what VGEmu actually is, it seems like people can make their own servers. So hopefully we will see at least one busy and popular single box server, and at least one "box whatever you want" server. I'll probably play both!
John Adams wrote: Wed Jul 22, 2015 7:46 pm I'll put the kabosh on this topic now by saying VGOEmu has no intention of limiting how many clients can connect from a single IP. Not even sure where that came from, but no fears. What we will do is restrict accounts to logging in once (there are technical reasons for this requirement), since accounts are free and the LaunchPad makes managing accounts effortless.

So feel free to run 100 clients on 100 accounts and box your hearts out We'll actually be calling on pro-boxers for stress testing anyway
I would be up for helping with stress testing sometime if you need me. I did 24 boxing at the most in EQ (on PEQ), but in Vanguard the most I ever played was a 6 box. But I reckon my PC could probably handle 12 if I lowered all the settings. I haven't tried VGEmu yet, I love the game too much to want to beta test it. As much as I would love to help test stuff, actually logging in to a mostly accurate version of VG again and hearing that music and seeing those pastel colors is something I dream about. I'm a geek I know :P But I really love Vanguard.

That seems pretty dumb to me. The crew is pretty bare bones as it is. You don't have to login every day and make it a full time job but hopping on even once a month and checking out what new stuff has been added/adjusted helps.

We love any and all testing - just don't /bug things that we know aren't working and/or aren't implemented yet.

See you in New Telon, Mythdrannor. :)
