Latest on Class Completeness and Areas with Leveling Progression

Greetings everyone....

Quick introduction and then on to a few questions. I played VG during Beta and launch. Got to about level 35 on a Psionicist. Played mostly with RL friends. Played again a few years later and did about the same thing solo as my friends had moved on. Just heard about the EMU project and decided to check in. Really miss VG and wish I had invested even more into it back in the day as it was a really good game in so many ways.

I've been playing for a few days now and first leveled a Psi on the IOD. I got all the way to the part where you fly the griffon to the temple up high, died up there, then haven't been able to get the temporary griffon to work again - seems bugged for me now (not the point of this post, that being said). Next, I rolled a Rogue and decided to skip the IOD this time. I'm currently at level 15 after bouncing all over creation looking for quest hubs and appropriate level mobs to grind.

That leads me to two main questions...

1. On both the Psi and Rogue I've noticed numerous skills, chains and counterattacks that are not yet working yet - I fully understand this will all take time but what I would like to know is if there are any of the classes that ARE complete or nearly complete so that I can try them out and have a more full experience. The Psi is missing Simulacrum which for me was the most important skill when I played back in the day. I've found it hard to be successful in certain situations without it. The Rogue only seems to have his main attacks and any special abilities aren't working yet.

2. Are there any starting areas/continents that are more fleshed out than others in terms of quest hubs, mobs, progression? I've tried IOD for my Kojani and the starter area for my Qaliathari Rogue. In the latter case I hit a wall around 10/12 and then had to start running off in random areas across the world looking for places I could quest at that level. It hasn't been smooth.

Please know, I am NOT in any way complaining, just trying to get an understanding if there are class or starting area choices that I could make that will present a more complete experience at this time in the EMU's development. Really have fun, despite these challenges, so thanks for that :) Good luck as this move forward. I'm a fan :)

I'll have to let Faux or one of the other devs answer the question on classes. I know that not all abilities can be scripted right now and the devs are still working on the core functionality.

As for quest areas, we are very specifically focusing on lower level areas to higher level areas. That means we're doing all the starter chunks first, then spreading out from there. Right now we have most starter areas in a state you can play (I won't say they're entirely complete). We have some teens level areas in a state you can play. I believe the highest level areas we have in a playable state is Silverlake/Coastal Graveyard/Trengal Keep. You're not going to find much beyond level 20 that's available. We're still working on the starter and teens level areas.

Character progression isn't really a thing you can do right now because most players want to go Starter -> Teens hub -> 20's hub -> 30's hub. You could reasonable get through any starter town in a matter of hours where it takes us well over a month to complete a zone.

Suffice to say, I wouldn't worry about progression. You can't really progress in the state of the game right now. We don't need players currently, we need /testers/ to make sure the quests work. You can always use /say .setlevel to change your level if you need to easier than trying to XP grind.

The class abilities falls squarely on me for not being more complete. There is a lot of class specific functionality that I just have not had time to finish yet. Right now, I am slowly putting in the system for bard songs.

After bard songs are in, I'll try and focus more on some individual class mechanics to flesh them out better. Free time to work on VGO is at a premium right now though.

Thanks for the replies. I know this is a lot of work and frankly, I can't even fathom the magnitude of this undertaking. I'll continue to submit bugs as I encounter them (keeping in mind as best that I can what sorts of things constitute a bug at this stage in the process).
