Halgarad Starter Quests - Need Help

Okay, so I'm trying to put together Halgarad's starter quests. I never did these in live, so already I'm starting out at a disadvantage. I can't find much info online. So if you guys remember any of the quests and how they worked, I would really appreciate it.

Right now I"m working on:

Call of the Giant - It says to get Valve Oil from crates, but you only need 1. Why just one? Were they hard to get (doesn't seem like it). Were the crates sometimes empty or did they have another unless non-quest item in them?

The Southern Outpost - So I guess you go to the tower to the south and you find a skeleton. Somehow a crate of supplies are involved. Do you send those supplies there, or you are bringing them home? I know there's a skeleton involved, and it's a clicky apparently. Do you recall what happened when you click the skeleton?

Cottonwings: So the area around this quest has "Cottonwing Moth" and "Cottonwing". The quest specifically says Cottonwing moth. So right now that's the only mob that is set up to drop the quest item. Is this the way it was at live? Seems like a dick move on the original dev's part. Does anyone remember if the regular cottonwings would drop them too?


I'll post more when I have other questions.

Hey Jakkal. I finally got back on yesterday, and the first thing I did was make a half giant Shaman. If my memory serves me right as far as the moths go, the wings should drop from the Cottonwings. They are all lvl 1 mobs. The Cottonwing Moth's range from 2-5. That would be pretty rough to throw on a lvl 1 as a starter quest. Maybe they drop from both moths, but, I would think that they would definitely itely drop off the lower lvl moths for sure.

As far as the valve oil goes, I seem to remember collecting multiples of that item. I'm rememberin it being 6. But, that's just working purely off of memory. Also, I seem to remember a connecting quest from the village to the outpost. I didn't find any such quest last night. Maybe I just missed it, but I did spend about 45 minutes just making sure I had all available adventuring quests.

By the way. Yall are doing an amazing job recreating my absolute favorite game. I'm hoping to be able to spend at least a meager amount of time testing content in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the input. Here's the list of quests and stuff I've done in Halgarad so far. Haven't really gotten outside of the starter zone much.

I can't find any quest (yet) that seems to connect Derogar's area to the area where the oil quest is (can't go on now to check). Do you recall if you went from Derogar's to the main town, and back out of the town?

I can't remember exactly. It's been about 4 years since I started a toon there. I did a few though, and I seem to remember Thane Karn sending me to the outpost after killing the Gnoll hunters and doing the class training. That would be very tough to confirm after all this time though. I do remember being sent to the outpost though.

I'm just going to travel the path the current quests are leading me, which is directly into the city. I'll see what comes up there.

Sorry I couldn't be more specific and helpful Jakkal. I will try to do some research into the starter town quests over the next couple weeks and see if I turn anything up.

No worries. I want to make it as close to the live game as possible. Barring that, we'll have to fill in the blanks but try to remain true to the spirit of the game.

Okay, I've figured out Halgarad's general progression at least up to where I was a bit confused. Halgarad's progression path is a little confusing from a game theory point of view. But I know how it works now and I'll continue setting it up as close to live as possible.
