Telon Weather Patterns
Does anyone remember there being "weather patterns" in Vanguard? By that, I do not mean snow flurries appearing when you go up in elevation. I mean, one moment it's sunny and the next it's cloudy and sprinkling and then downpouring. Along those lines, were there any abilities that altered the weather?
From my recollection, weather was pretty much non-existent in the world, and I'm pretty sure we have no opcodes for that (yet) either way. Just thought I'd ask the experts if they remember there being rainy days in Telon.
Thanks.

There was weather, and it was mostly random rainstorms. IIRC, people with Windows 7 couldn't see it very well at all, people with XP (non64) could see it. I don't remember what the issue with this was, but the devs couldn't fix it. I can't remember if they ever did.
Mostly what happened were the clouds would start to show up and get really dark. And then it would rain. I'll see if I can find any screenshots of it.

I believe the issue with some people not seeing rain (win7, etc), was due to a shader issue. I think they fixed it a few months before the sunset announcement (mid-late 2013).
There were no weather control abilities in VG that I know of.

I believe weather is defined in the following files in the BIN folder:
VSOHWeatherDefs.ini
VSOHWeatherPerChunk.ini
VSOHWeatherDefs.ini
VSOHWeatherPerChunk.ini

k falloutdc, you win. That was completely bad ass, that first video I have to say in all my years in VG, I never saw weather... this is why I asked. Maybe I am one of those lucky Windows users that can't render it.
Re: Telon Weather Patterns
Those videos were awesome mate!
Weather had also been fixed for quite some time for Win 7 users and it was always there and visible before it was fixed but just very fine so it was hard to see unless you went to a dark place.

The problem was that DirectX versions after 9.0c is not fully backward compatible with 9.0c and Microsoft chose not to implement some methods. One such method was a texture scaling that was used by the rain system, so the rain was there but really small.

The videos are amazing and yes weather was one of the coolest things in VG, along with the trees and wind!
Uploading a video that I have that shows off the rain and what happens after the rain (drip sounds).

Does anyone remember having a collect running when the weather changed?
