Bring back /claim
/claim was removed when SOE introduced the station store to VG with the f2p transition. Since I imagine there will be no store with the EMU, we will need to revive the /claim command so we can get our veteran, collectors ed. and other goodies if they are made available.

Re: Bring back /claim
This might be difficult since we don't have a packet for /claim (far as I know) -- but, the good news is any items that were "claimable" could easily be placed on an in-game merchant - and we could pass out specific veteran tokens and whatnot to be required to purchase said items. Or handle them via quest hand-ins. Many options if we cannot do the actual /claim.
Good suggestion, thanks.

Re: Bring back /claim
good thing you brought that up because the Anniversary items for the past 2 or 3 years were not /claim items, but rather you got them off the Telon Herald by having a simple dialogue. Which gives me a brilliant idea on how to implement the Veteran Rewards and Anneversary gifts!
Place them on various NPC's and have them ask you trivia questions about VG's history. If you answer correctly, you get the veteran/anneversary rewards.
Since most packet collecting didnt begin til after the F2P conversion, you probably dont have a packet for it but it might be possible to recreate it. If so basically all it did was bring up a claim window and based on how your accoutn was flagged it would display whatever veteran, anniversary, collectors, beta, etc rewards your account was flagged for. So imsure there was a database that stored that info.

I mean, honestly there is not a point in having an NPC ask you trivia questions as a "test". That would be more of a mini-game for people who like trivia questions then anything, since all it would take is one person to write down the answers and post them online, or a player to sit there and click the options until they finally get the right answers. Otherwise it's just a bit of a nuisance for everyone else.
Like, personally, I had every vet reward + the collectors edition cloak (the crafting one), but I pretty much remember nothing past beta. So I would just have to sit there and spam the options for an hour to get back items I had on live, which seems like a needless time-sink IMO.
Even if you did things like code in new features so if you got an answer wrong the NPC would not talk to you for 48 hours, or he attacked / killed you, that's a lot of development hours for something that could still be beaten by google.
Honestly, I'd say just dump all of the vet rewards on a merchant and let people take what they want, or, alternatively and probably better, design a low-level quest series that rewards you with all of the vet items and your choice between the three CE cloaks (if anyone collected their data. I tried to collect the crafter one, no idea if it worked though *shrug*). Hell, I could probably spare the time to write/design that quest once there are content tools for that even.
As far as /claim itself goes, I would just ignore it. I don't think it's necessary on an emulator and would take more time then it's worth to rebuild from scratch. I'd go the token merchant route for any emulator specific "vet rewards"

Re: Bring back /claim
We actually did end up getting the /claim windows back (haha SOE) and packet collected. I personally like the /claim as an OPTION for server admins who wish to reward players for certain deeds; be it a BotB contest or completing a specific quest line, the GM can flag the account with a "reward" special only to them.
It's stuff like this that makes people happy, gives them something to keep playing for. If all you do is give your best stuff away, they take it, try it, and are never seen again -- too easy. Vanguard was never about being easy, originally. It just became that way because there are more lazy players than eager ones in any game.
