Music and Sound Effects
I'd like to hear better music and sound effects throughout VGEmu.
A lot of the mounts sound like horses oddly enough!
Much of the music sounds too similar as well. In particular, I'd like to hear the music/sounds from Wizardry Online (another SOE game going to sunset) in VGEmu - would be a nice tribute to a good game.

Haiku is easy -
But sometimes it makes no sense.

Re: Music and Sound Effects
I agree with some of the mounts having horse sounds or just being silent but man....I love the VG music, I have played with the sound on for 7 years, since the very first beta and I would hate to replace it or add music from a completely different game (which I personally didn't like!).
VGs music is quite technical and implemented in portions that only activate in certain instances/area's and although some may sound the same, it really isn't, it has different snippets of sounds playing to form a brand new song/theme/tune for each area or combat situation.
I can know exactly where I am or what ability is being cast/used just by listening after all these years and I love that I can do that, I really don't want that to be changed, unless of course it's on a separate server for others that share your request.
I don't mean to be a party pooper, if this was meant for a private server but I just couldn't bare having it changed across all servers, when the music and sounds are memorable and liked by many!

This kind of thing falls under client modification, and not something I'm sure we could really do.
Re: Music and Sound Effects
Not a party pooper at all...I want to hear what others think too! What about just adding to the existing stuff, not changing anything.
Unless of course, Mekalia is reopened. The perfect gnome song is at 19:03 here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sReOnC3fugc
But if it can't be done anyhow...

I'm not saying it's impossible, I just don't know for sure. The way the client is made you can play any music or ambiance sound effects that are in the client, basically anywhere you'd like. But it's unknown yet if we can add more assets easily into the client.

I do like this idea and hope we discover "easily replacable music" someday, but this is a good example of what I meant by:
We cannot change or fix a thing about the client EXE or how it performs because we do not have the source code, and so forth.
We simply cannot support client mods, not only because of time and effort, but legally; we don't own that, so we cannot change it. The emulator source is ours, we can do what we want. We "stole" the data, which utilizes assets in the client so that's ours to do what we want as well.
But reversing the client for the purpose of patching? That would probably get someone sued. Probably me
I thought I read somewhere though where you can simply replace files (using Unreal Script Editors) and change things up like you are saying. That would, of course be on an individual basis and out of our control (or jurisdiction). I'm betting Tiger has some input on this topic. Shoot him a PM if he doesn't come to this thread.

I agree with Kilsin... I loved the music, Todd Masten (the componist) did a great job. Inserting the soundrack from another game would feel like assaulting the game =O Sometimes i just flew around to some solitary places like Konarthi Point just to hear the music there. I was bound in Khal with all of my (36 =P) chars just because of the atmosphere and - who would have thought that - the music... Entering Tanvu bank always was exciting: will there be my favourite soundtrack or the other one? (which I didn't dislike, but I liked the other one better ^^)
I knew a lot of people that liked the soundtrack...
(and changing the soundtrack will be difficult anyways, as there was layered sound...)
If you really want to change anything about it >> at least get Todd Masten to do the job ;P
... or just mute the gamesound and hear your faves on youtube
Greetings Mith

Aye Vanguards music is and was epic, one of the only game soundtracks I have on my MP3 player, and how each areas music fit just so perfectly. As Kilsin and Mithni said, it would feel....off? to run around Telon with a different set of music, (love how all the elves had choir like singing, but diff tempos and Feeling)
