AOE looting

Just thought about this one since I've been playing Rift so much. One of the problems we used to run across in VG was killing a lot of mobs and then going through and looting them. This would often be tedious, but sometimes it got really bad when you had multiple people looting multiple mobs. If one person has a loot window open, another person can't loot. And you had to loot every individual mob.

This was mostly a big deal for people collecting epic slivers in KDQ, but it happened in other areas as well, especially if lowbies were kiting for XP or quest drops.

Some newer games, such as Rift and GW2 let you loot from all mobs in an area. It would be nice if we could have that in VG too.

I would like to 2nd an AoE Loot system.

One thing to consider: Ninja Looters - IIRC, both of the aforementioned games handled this by having a (chance of) loot drop for each player that participated in the kill. This is, I think, the best solution to the problem. Now, that is not to say that every mob dropped something for every player. Each mob in an encounter had a chance to drop something for each player that participated (even if just in the group that killed, not actually fighting).

This also helps with gather quests not being so tedious, as you would normally see one mob drop multiples of their item for the group (three heads off of one mob to a group of 5 players for example).

The loot radius was normally something around 10 meters, meaning if you kited stuff all over the place, you had to go loot a few different "groups" of mobs.

I agree, this would be a great feature to have in game.

But I would like it to be like EQ's Advanced loot window.
Meaning you can select what items that you would like to collect.
and put a check on the ones that you do not want.

with a option to give all loots from those mobs to a select player.

Because in KDQ I did a lot of kiting and Aoeing with ant lions.
I had multiple times where I had a full bag with ant lion mandibles for KDQ quest turn in.
Yes, they are great to have, but when you can only do 1 or 2 turn ins a day it doesn't really make much sense to collect more then that.
Also it does help the Epic Sliver portion a lot! especially if the group leader is capable of sending those slivers to the group members ( or AFK epic sliver farming)

Or possibly make those collectable stackable up to 100? that would make it a lot easier to farm and keep quest items.
As for Epic slivers go, I think they should automatically go into your inventory if the NPC dropped one for you.

Near later in the game, they set it up so you didn't have to wait a day to do turn ins. We'll probably keep it the same. Just FYI.

As for sliver style loot, those showed up only for the players. Like if I weren't doing POTA on my sorc and I killed a bunch of KDQ mobs, I wouldn't see the slivers that drop for you at all. I think most quest items were like that ingame. I know one or two here and there weren't, but most were.

But yeah, I get what you're saying. I'm not sure how much of that we can edit though. Maybe Outcast knows?

I remember being able to do a maximum of 3 turn ins a day for collectables.
( that with bugs & the 16-24 hour reuse on your KDQ thingy.)

Quest resets after 24 hours
Quest resets after 24 hours even if you have the quest in you log ( meaning you could do all the T1 through T4 KDQ and then turn in and they will auto refresh)
And Using the KDQ item to refresh quests once every 16-24 hours depending on your skill and the cooldown.

I may be wrong ( not like many people did 3 full KDQ runs in a day anyway )

Quest Items : I believe they all were like this. ( would be nice to not have to look through 40 corpses to find 1 quest item though )

( Wish list Ideas )

1-5 days until my computer arrives, god it cant happen fast enough!

The way it worked was that when you did a turn-in, the only way to make the quest available again was to use that KDQ plate looking thing, TASC generator I think it was called? And that had a cooldown of 20hrs on it (Not including Psi and whatever buffs affect cooldown). So you could only get the quests to reset after clicking that.

Sometime later, I think just after F2P, they set it up so the TASC generator had no cooldown. Just click it and take the quests. So you literally turn in 20 stacks of antlion mandibles at once, without the artificial wait.

But yes, AOE looting would definitely be nice.

It really helped the population, because people weren't restricted to one named run per day either. Which means more and more people could do them and were willing to do them.

I can see how that would happen.
Considering most people doing KDQ at the time would do 1 or 2 runs with there main, then log into an alt and do another run because of the lockout timers.
