Yup I remember Fear CRs, we were the first server to clear PoF, the first server to have this drop http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=450 - to Thott of thottbot.com and we were the first server to complete Firey Avenger. Oh those were the days!

Oh, right. I forgot about the naked part. Of course In early VG you were partly naked, but it still wasn't as bad.

Also, one last time on rez sickness: I don't really have a problem with rez sickness per se. It never bothered me on my high level characters. But it was just brutal on my low-level characters. Maybe it just needs to be tweaked so it scales better, though I really don't see what purpose it serves (other than the anti-zerg thing). If it doesn't make you sit out the game, it is hardly any penalty at all. If it makes you sit out the game, it's a penalty, but a bad one IMO.
Well on plenty of raids I've been on, MT would die and a secondary would take over. This sounds more like a strat discussion for another topic.
That wasn't a strat point. Jakkal was more saying that if your raid wiped and your MT still had rez sick on, then you waited until it dropped to re-engage. If the MT went down mid fight of course you recover with off tanks if you can.

It's all going to depend on where you were at in the game and what you were doing. Take my sorcerer for example. He was probably one of the top geared/augged out Sorcerers on the server.

If I am doing an SoD named run and I die then Rez sick is negligible. The content is trivial relative to my characters power

If I am doing top end group content say CoB or CoW then maybe Rez sick served its purpose. It's going to be harder to do stuff but i'm not just ruled out.

If I was doing top end raiding content then Rez sick turned into sitting on my thumb. Any death turns into a waiting game at the top tier content. You needed everything to give it a go. Anything less and it was a moot point to even engage.

Three different results from a single character. Swap out my sorc for a healer and you will get different repsonses. Swap it out for a tank and another set of responses. Go down in level and it's yet another set of reactions to rez sick.

I'm not sure why there is a concern for balancing the death penalty between classes. A death is a death. If you cant heal, that's just tough. Certain classes will always have advantages in some areas. I played pretty much every class in VG. I can't think of one class that I didn't have fun on. Especially not due to the death penalty. If anything I say make it more harsh. Death is not your friend. If it means that as a rogue you only fight 2 dots solo, then so be it. You'll still be a dps monster in a group and not have to worry about dieing unless several people have already died before you. If people want to only play disciples because they are safe, then fine, let em. They won't be having as much fun as I will playing multiple classes. They won't be as good at the game either. People will always try to pigeonhole themselves into the easiest or the fastest. Trying to balance classes does nothing to aleviate this. It also doesn't make a game more fun, but much less so.
