New Telon Chaos
For those trying the server this weekend, know that we are experience massive issues with some new code; problems that do not show up on our local dev machines, only seem to occur when WAN connections hit the server.
It's caused by changing chunks, so it seems. If you log in and stay in the current chunk, all seems fine. When you start moving through the world, it crashes.
We're working to solve the problem as quickly as possible.
Sorry for the mess, but it happens from time to time as we implement new things and try to make the world run smoother.

Re: New Telon Chaos
I am about to update New Telon with the latest fix attempts for our UDPServer crashes/deadlocks. This could result in instability again, so I ask again for your continued patience.
There is a temporary workaround, so if I see things are not more stable, I will roll back to the current state.

Re: New Telon Chaos
Update: Now it seems to matter what, soon as that 3rd person logs in the world immediately crashes. I'm going to need to take a machete to this last weekends changes and find where it is. Meanwhile, I don't think it's right to torment you with a crashing New Telon, so it will be down for a couple hours while I go over this code.
Sorry for you guys (Moldew/Xxdeath) who keep trying to enjoy the world. We'll get it fixed asap.

Re: New Telon Chaos
If anyone has time today, please connect to the New Telon server and cross a few chunk lines with at least 2 of you online (anywhere in the world). Sit there for at least 5 mins so the chunk shutdown timer expires.
I have moved the code up to what I think is just before the breakage. If it crashes a lot doing the above, I think I know where the problem is. No need to report results, as I will see in the console if it fails.
Thanks for your continued patience.
Edit: Oops, just realized this topic was locked. Unlocked it in case anyone does want to report good or bad or unexpected behavior.

Re: New Telon Chaos
I was able to log in on Kilsin, cross 2 chunk lines from Jharru Flats to Ahgram and then sit in Ahgram for 10+ mins without crashing or any issues that I could see.
There at least 2 others online, Moldew and Dakadin.
I will test more later when i get some free time but so far looks like it's holding. just wanted to give you that feedback before I got back to my studies

Re: New Telon Chaos
I crossed a bunch of chunk lines too, but not sure if I sat for 5 mins, forgot about that part. However, went to the kitchen, came back, and I was at desktop.

Re: New Telon Chaos
I was running and rifting through quite a few zones for awhile but the client disappeared when I was swimming across the river in Qa Riverbank. The character seems to be stuck on the server since then.

Re: New Telon Chaos
Okay, thank you for the reports. Another one of our wonderful new bugs is behavior we've seen in EQ2Emulator as well, where there are no crashes, the server just hangs indefinitely. No sign of what's wrong, and pausing and stepping through reveals nothing. This is a rare instance though, and New Telon ran for quite some time, only freezing this morning at 5:30 when someone tried to create a new character.
Server reset, let's try again.

Re: New Telon Chaos
Yesterday I crossed many chunk, and 2 other guys also at the same time, the server didn't crash.
Re: New Telon Chaos
I too crossed several chunks and sat idle for over 10 minutes with others logged in. No server crash, however, the client at one point locked up once but was able to get back into the game. Also, the world chat channel and /who command stopped working at one point.
It did look like two characters were locked up in the game though throughout the day
