Re: Waiting on Data from World Server
[quote="Dakadin"]To get around the issue, I ended up adding another account in Account Management since you can have 5 of them.[/quote]
Just FYI, this restriction of 5 has been removed, since SOE allowed you to have as many accounts as you could create.
ArtofWar, you might use Account Manager to also delete all characters and your account itself, as something is sounding corrupt. With the current known Login->World issues, who knows what is compounding it without stepping through the code on your end. If you are savvy with a debugger, you can give that a try.

Sounds good, I think I will. Specially if this issue was plaguing you as well

Im sure something is off. Infact last nite in my last mad attempt, I killed my server while still at character select, and the client became responsive again, The flames on the pillar were crackling away, I could spin around, zoom in and out, and create a new character (no server up to make it on) So this sounds for sure like something is corrupt and seeing as my server is running its paces and not spitting out errors, it might just be the account itself.
Ill try this evening and let you guys know how it ended up

Re: Waiting on Data from World Server
Ok, so got home and deleted all my Characters, Then my Server, and finnaly the account.
Created 2 new users, one JUST for characters, the other just for the server,
Re-updated SVN, dropped database again, created new, reinserted World and Opcode, launched server all green
launched VG, created char.....then Bam, same thing, Game freezes with music, waiting on On Data
Alt tab out, kill server, tab back into game, responsive again, I am seeing the Server go up on the server page on website, and I can see the character being created and added to DB both via server screen, and DB itself, Settings in the XML all seem good, so I cant figure out what is going on. Granted I am not super savvy , but I must be missing something, and its likely obvious. If anyone has another Idea, Im all ears

Re: Waiting on Data from World Server
Hi Art - my brother had a similar issue to you and it turned up to be router related.
Its related to specific router types and how they treat calls from within your network - back to an ip address within your network - sort of a loopback issue - called
'Hairpin NAT'
In your server screen - it should be listening on an internal address = i.e,192.168.0.NNN usually
Also make sure you have your router passing through all the ports specified in the server doco. I'm sure you've already done that.

Re: Waiting on Data from World Server
Art - also when the char select screen comes up - make sure you select a char on your server - within 1 sec of the list of chars appearing - if you only have
chars on your server though - this should not be a problem. Ypu can also change the vanguard/bin/UILoginHistory.ini file - and make sure it has your world set
i.e
[Version]
Login=LOGIN_HISTORY_V002
[Server]
LastServer=<YOUR SERVERNAME>
m_bOnLoginServer=1
[Character]
FirstName=<YOURCHAR>
LastName=

Re: Waiting on Data from World Server
You Know Jimbo, that makes total sense from a connections stand point. And would explain the game not really being frozen so much as stalled on account of it and the server basically using the same pipe on account of the router.
everything is forwarded exactly as the setup required, and I can trace back along no issues. So it must be router not allowing the internal to connect on the external address
Now comes the PITA, after you mentioned hairpin Nat, I started to check it out, seems my Cisco Router doesn't support it.
Now have to figure out how to get around that, I tried doing a DMZ with my internal just for giggles, but that made no difference. Any suggestions as to some way to get around this? or am I overthinking this,
Also, does anyone want to coordinate with me, and create a toon on my server to ensure it is allowing external connections ok?

Re: Waiting on Data from World Server
What's the name of your server? If I see it up I will connect to test it for you. Send me a PM if you want to try to setup a specific time.
Re: Waiting on Data from World Server
Server name is Khal, going green in a minute, Ill leave it up for a few hours, and monitor connections / creations.
Re: Waiting on Data from World Server
I am getting stuck at Waiting on Data trying to connect to Khal. It let me create the character but is unsuccessful after that.
Let me know when you are ready for another test.

Re: Waiting on Data from World Server
hmm, I saw the creation, but server sat idle after that, nada. Wonder If I nixed something during initial setup, because if your getting that same error from outside, something inside is goofy
Its like Again, it choked and I rebooted it.
