Client poof after I double click it
I did a fresh install using the VGOEmulator.net download client. I followed the setup directions which included the bit about the "Unblock" that you need to check for it to work.
I'm on Windows 10 64bit. I can provide other information as needed.
When I double click the launcher, it pops up, and says the client was found (see attachment Screenshot_1.jpg), but it also pops up a bunch of the same window saying the configuration is invalid or changed (see attachment Screenshot_2.jpg). I cannot click on the OK button from Screenshot_2.jpg or the "Save" button from Screenshot_1.jpg. Eventually everything disappears.
I tried checking the security on the c:\Vanguard EMU\ directory, but nothing I did there helped, including granting full control to authenticated users and users. No clue what to do at this point.

What you're describing is listed on our Troubleshooting guide. You can give that a try and see if it helps. Otherwise you might need to wait for a dev to respond. http://vgoplayers.com/wiki/index.php/Tr ... ting_Guide

Sorry for the oversight. I searched, and I missed that. I'll try it. Thank you.Jakkal wrote: ↑Fri May 21, 2021 12:11 pm What you're describing is listed on our Troubleshooting guide. EDIT:
Error spam about invalid configs
If you downloaded only the launcher, make sure you put it into the root folder of your existing VG client from sunset (not disc or steam versions). If you don't have an existing client install, download the full client from our site.
I downloaded from your site the whole installer using the link from your complete setup guide in the General Support forum, which is shown below. I didn't do it piecemeal. It all came from your recommended site. It still does not work. I've followed the setup guide. I made sure I right clicked the zip file and selected "Unblock". I'm disappointed, but I'm old enough to have figured out that life is full of disappointments, so what is one more?
Download the client from http://vgoplayers.com/downloads.php?tab=client

Re: Client poof after I double click it
I just downloaded a fresh copy and ran the VGOEmuLauncher.exe a single "invalid configs" popped up but it then found the client and created the VGOEmuLauncher.log and the other files it needs right after.
Maybe one of the client downloads in particular is busted? I used "VG Full Client (Windows Zip 7.6 GB)" which one did you use?
Also just wanted to make sure that you are either launching the VGOEmuLauncher.exe inside the game folder or if you're creating a desktop shortcut and launching it from there.
I was able to replicate the issue you're having by dragging the VGOEmuLauncher.exe itself to my desktop and launching it there, so if you're doing that, that might be whats causing it to error out.

Re: Client poof after I double click it
I've tried the the Windows Zip 7.6gb and 7-Zip 4.9gb. I have the game in the C:\Vanguard EMU\ directory. I have double clicked the VGOEmuLauncher.exe from inside the game folder. I've tried right clicking and running as admin. I tried to drag it to the desktop. I tried creating a shortcut on my desktop pointing to it in C:\Vanguard EMU\. I double clicked the shortcut and I right clicked and ran as admin. None of this has worked. in every scenario, it shows it finds the client except when I drag the .exe directly to the desktop. When I dragged to desktop, it could not find client. I've verified my user has full control via security.Zukan wrote: ↑Fri May 21, 2021 4:17 pm I just downloaded a fresh copy and ran the VGOEmuLauncher.exe a single "invalid configs" popped up but it then found the client and created the VGOEmuLauncher.log and the other files it needs right after.

The window that pops up when I double click says it is looking for the client in C:\Vanguard EMU\bin. That's where it is. I can run the client and get to the screen where character creation would normally occur, but it can't connect because it doesn't have the server info it needs that is provided by the launcher. The cursor just spins with the blue circle showing it's working, and after a few seconds, everything just poofs. I never get a chance to save.
I'm probably doing something stupid, but I can't see what it is. Very annoying.

Re: Client poof after I double click it
In the Vanguard EMU folder can you can you open up the lp_Options.xml and and the VGOEmuLauncher.log file for me.
Re: Client poof after I double click it
I also tried my mobile hotspot. I was thinking maybe my ipconfig was hosed. It didn't help.
Also in my previous post, I meant to say that I did try dragging the .exe to the desktop. It could not find the client.
Here are the contents of the lo_Options.xml:

Try replacing this section with the following leave everything above these lines like it is.
Code: Select all

Re: Client poof after I double click it
Tried it, but the launcher just overwrote the options again with what was in the file before my changes. I tried making the file read only. Same error, but this time it didn't overwrite the file. Actually different error. Says "Access to the path 'C:\Vanguard EMU\lp_Options.xml' is denied.".Xinux wrote: ↑Fri May 21, 2021 7:10 pm Try replacing this section with the following leave everything above these lines like it is.

Re: Client poof after I double click it
If you have it set to read only you will get that error. Can you attach the VGOEmuLauncher.log so I can take a look at it and it's still spamming the invalid config error right?
