Characters not showing

Hi,
I last logged in January this year. Now when I try to enter the game, I can log in but none of my characters are showing up. I can still press the 'Play' button at the character select screen and it says it is Logging in but nothing happens.
I have tried re-downloading both the launch pad and the entire client with no success.
