Account Manager: Granting Private Server Access

All,

With the release of LaunchPad 2.0 comes the ability for admins to host Private server connected to the Public LoginServer ("Hub"). Since the point of Private Servers is to keep the public out, LaunchPad 2.0 and some nifty back-end stuff had to happen to bring this option to the community.

You may be asking yourself, "Well how do I allow people to play on my Private server, if I wanted them to?" - and here's your answer.

In the Account Management module I have just added the Grant/Revoke Server Permissions tab, which becomes available to you if your registered world is marked as "Private".

Basically, the player wanting access to your server will email/PM you their account ID (they get this off their My Accounts tab). You add the ID to the Grant list, and done. They can now pick your Private server from the list in LaunchPad 2.0.

To remove someone's account is just as easy - follow the instructions in the Wiki.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

It appears that all my accounts automatically have access to my private server. Is that the way it is supposed to work?

No, you should have to add each account by ID individually. I don't think I did anything that nice

Edit: Checked the portal module logs, you added your 2 accounts to your own server on July 1.

Hmmm....

I have 4 accounts, and I have been able to log on with all 4, even though I'm sure I haven't authorized accts 3 & 4 (q.v. characters 149 & 320). On the permissions tab I see accts 2 & 3 as revokable, but not 3 & 4. When I checked before, I did not see any accounts under "Revoke Server Permissions," even after I had authorized accts 1 & 2. From that I thought maybe I hadn't needed to authorize my own accounts. Now I suspect something isn't working right, or perhaps authorizing one of my accounts authorizes all accounts under the same parent account.

Also, in launchpad, the server shows as "Private," but it the name is colored green. I expected private servers to show up as yellow like Targonor.
