Ah - Sorry to hear about your flood - plenty of room down under - and would mean shorter ping times for us

What luck! Hope you get fixed up soon. Don't come to the Netherlands. Weather here is only somewhat better than England. ATM my son wants to go outside and play but its cold and raining. Sometimes I really do miss a good old American summer in the south.

Holy crap John, i know how you feel, this exact thing happened to me tuesday last week. Only it was the basement also where we keep our music studio stuff. We had about 3 inches of water in the basement. Luckily like you, the music equipment was off the ground. The only things submerged in the water besides the stands was my sustain pedals and some cables. I carefully dried those out and cleaned em up with electronics cleaner and all is good.
It took us about 9 hours to get everything cleaned up. Lost some old baby items and our xmas tree and some area rugs but overall everything was ok. Turns out the rain gutter in the rear of our house had gotten stuffed up with leaves and then overflowed to the base of the house and water was coming in through some cracks in the foundation. I spent last weekend cleaning the gutters and sealing the cracks with hydraulic cemet. Has not rained again yet but heres to hoping problem solved. I have yet to set the studio back up. I want to make sure all water leak problems are solved before I do.
I know off topic but what keyboards are those you have there? From the looks of it, one is a Roland Jupiter 80.

Sorry that you're going through this, John. My house basement flooded in spring about 8 years ago. I lost a mixer, boss gt-3 effects pedal, and my Jackson DK-1 custom had the bottom 2 inches in water for a few hours. It's all just stuff, but the cleanup is just a pain in the ass.
Hopefully your laminate/hardwood can be salvaged. I went and rented those high volume floor drying fans and mine turned out OK. Most electronics can be salvaged if you open and blow dry them right away. It's not simply contact with water that destroys them, it's the erosion of the contacts caused by the water that kills them.
Insurance typically doesn't cover overland flooding (as opposed to sewage flooding) around here (Alberta, Canada), but I hope you have good luck with those guys.
One strategy, which some distant neighbours employed, is to build a cement berm around the perimeter of your yard. As long as the berm is higher than the height of your neighbours property entrances, water that may have flooded you will instead flood them (at the very least, you will never be the only one of the block to get flooded).

Good eye, it is indeed the Jupiter 80. Just picked one up this year (along with the Integra-7). The 88 is my trusty Alesis QS-8 I've used in every scenario imaginable since 1997 Those are just the ones I use. I have another room with about 10 more boards and modules I've collected over the years. All racked, thankfully.

Nice! its funny you mention you have been into synths since 1997. My first synth I ever owned (and still have it and use it) is a Korg N364 which was released in 1997. I got it used in 2004 for $280 which is a steal considering they go for about $800 or so on ebay. Found out later the keyboardist of Nightwish used that very board for a good chunk of his career.
Later on I got a Korg TR88 and then a Korg Kross 61 which was a runner up prize my wife and I got for being finalists in the Korg Kronos studio make-over contest Korg held last year.
If you can't tell im a big fan of Korg lol, but I apprciate other boards too. I hang out on the Korg forums here and there and many of the guys over there own synths from all manufacturers. Some have both a Kronos and Jupiter 80 and swear its the best combination of sonic power. Anyway don't want to derail this anymore, back to your regularly scheduled topic
