I have been a professional developer for 30 years, using mainly C/Assembly/Python and to a lesser extent C++/Delphi/Flex/JavaScript and several others. Most of my work has been with embedded interfaces to serial and network hardware devices via specialized protocols (ModBus/BACnet).

I switched to Linux for everything other than games in 2006. I have virtually no experience with C#, Visual Studio, etc.

Unfortunately, my time will be limited for the next couple of months, but I was planning on roliing a new toon and getting as far as I can before they shut it down so I'd be happy to at least collect data for now.

Welcome, Kloodge. Likely after Sunset, when the content collection effort is over, is when development (C/C++) of our World will kick into gear. Right now the focus is data, and at least observing the data in our test world. Hopefully you'll be up for some coding after then, when life settles down and we can get more serious about the world side of things.

Any time you're ready, just let us know.

Interesting, you work in the HVAC controls industry? I work almost exclusively with BACnet

Since your resume' doesn't sound like a data collector we can certainly talk web design as well. I have many plans to spruce up this dusty old site, eventually. Tons of work to be done in our editors and community portal modules. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

I know it's super late to the game, but I was wondering if I can help? I'd be willing to do data collecting if you'll have me.

[quote="Kandra":teykqp6g]I'm working as a Java/c++ developer and might be able to help out at a later date. But I'm currently trying to play Vanguard as much as I can before it gets closed down, so I guess data collecting would be more up my alley.[/quote:teykqp6g]
I'm taking a day or two off to mourn the loss of a magnificent world and the death of its thousands of innocent inhabitants, but after that I should be free to help out with some easy development tasks.
