VGOPlayers.com - Resurrected

The Vanguard: Saga of Heroes player community has witnessed one thing after another taken away from them over the course of this games short life. First, Beta features everyone was excited about. Then the nerfing of content, abilities, graphics and more in an effort to stabilize the game. Then in 2012, players lost their original community centered around the VGPlayers website -- and now, they lose their game world entirely.

It sounds like a story of tragedy and loss, but realistically look at the fever of the people helping us to preserve the game, and the community. Instead, it feels like a story of great resolve, determination, and true passion for the game they love.

The original effort of VGOEmulator.net was to build a game server to continue playing on. Once the sunset announcement was made, it became clear to me the entire community would be wiped from the internet as well unless something was done.

Reluctantly at first, I set out to recreate the VGPlayers website - thinking it was a lost cause, because all the pieces were gone - and there are no screenshots! So I began scouring the Wayback Machine for bits and pieces of graphics and html to help me rebuild the old community. Much to my surprise, most of the UI pieces were available.

While still a work-in-progress, I present the New Telon community with their new VGOPlayers Community.

My hope is to funnel dev updates to this portal as a central location for VGOEmu progress. Right now it just has some test data in there for formatting.

Remember Character of the Day? (look who our COTD is today, Cyrcle ) These are read right out of the New Telon world database, and get updated at midnight local time (AZ). The Character name is click-thru to details, and soon other click-thrus will become active.

VGPlayers offered characters to display their stuff (bragging rights) or remain {Private} - I will offer both on this page. This has sample data again for development but you get an idea what it will look like.

Items Search is one of the things that started me down this path. I needed a way to get you (players) to observe our collected data and help us determine validity - and it morphed into an Items page on VGOPlayers.com.

I have only started to develop item details, but here's a sample of what it might look like, including Discoveries, 1st and Server 1st bragging rights.

I purpose of another set of forums is not to segregate the community, but instead to gather them together under one place. Most players don't care about developer banter, and that's the purpose behind vgoemulator.net forums. This is just an experiment of course, but the idea is for players to register under the VGOPlayers.com forums, and gain account access to Login/World Servers as well as account/character management and a player "blog".

Obviously, this is a TON of work - which is why I posted earlier this week for help with web development, because I certainly cannot do this alone. I can, I just don't want to I'd rather work on raw data and the server code.

But this is a great start, I'm happy both the Wayback Machine and [url:24ofkvwe]http://www.vanguardthegame.com[/url:24ofkvwe] had so many graphics pieces still laying around to rebuild this site.

I hope you enjoy your new community.

Yay, character of the day!

Site looks awesome. Some stats need work as you said, but the item database is already looking HUGE. Here's to hoping we can get it to auto screen-cap for achievements. Everyone's done great work so far, especially in the small amount of time there's been.

I have missed this website! I remember poking around on it often to see what friends have been doing and their in-game progress.

I made an account on the new vgo players too. Looking forward to seeing the site's features rebuilt
