January 2018 Newsletter

I'm going to try to do this more semi-regularly if time permits. We've been quite busy, even over the Christmas holiday season.

If you ever want to see the changelog of what the devs are working on, it's available here: https://www.vgoemulator.net/index.php?p=changelog

Some highlights of what the devs have done:

1. Chunking Crash bug fixed. This one hit me the most and it was super annoying. But they finally figured out what was causing it! I have regularly been on VG since the fix was put in (Dec 9th) and I have not crashed once chunking, teleporting, or rifting. Well done guys!

2. There was a bug in game related to factions, if you killed a mob of an aggressive faction, it caused the other NPCs of that faction to no longer attack you. This has been fixed.

3. Classes with class specific points should have them regenerate or drop off at a reasonable rate.

4. I was hoping to say that bard songs were complete, but I spoke with Faux yesterday and he says he's very close to having them finished. I'm going to hold him to that as this is something I hear about at least once a day from players!

5. Xinux has been working really, really hard on Crafting. I really hope we have something to show for it by the next Newsletter.

Some highlights from the Content Designers:
Note: You can always see what the Designers are up to by checking out these forums:
Chunks: (Quests, NPC Scripting, Pathing, etc) https://www.vgoemulator.net/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=42
Classes: https://www.vgoemulator.net/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=66
Spells/Abilities: https://www.vgoemulator.net/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=65

1. Trengal Keep's questline is complete (as far as it was in live. I do intend to complete it all the way at some point, but not right now). The summoning of Karujin occurs similarly to live. Trengal Keep, as in the entire chunk, still needs mob cleanup. So you might need to turn /say .aggro off so that you aren't just destroyed with the extra mob spawns inside the dungeon (Unless you really enjoy a challenge).

2. Panther Illusion Mask Quest - A player asked if we could put this in, so I stuck in it last night since it's a very simple quest. You still have to do the faction grinding.

3. I am currently working on Tanvu, as the scripts for it are extremely old and in dire need of updating. As soon as I'm done with Tanvu, I intend to hit Khal, for the same reason.

4. I have completely redone the gear for Dahknarg and when you get them. I've completely gone through the quests and tried to make them flow a bit better without forcing you to do anything. Since stats were missing from Dahknarg's gear, I added stats that were comparable to IOD's/Tursh's. I added a Dahknarg like version of the lucky charms as well. I intend to do this for the other starter areas.

5. Moldew has been working really hard on restoring Mekalia from scratch. No quests are up yet. He's been very busy adding personality to the NPCs there.

6. Hubert has finished Tursh diplomacy (Rindol Field and Tursh proper). He is now working on Khal's diplomacy.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and we will answer as soon as we can!

Xinux had server expenses open for donations through paypal a while back but I'm not sure if that's still working...

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3989&p=24969&hilit=donation#p24969

Reminds me I'm due to donate more myself. I may do that this weekend.

Oh, you might have meant non-monetary forms of donations... :) In that case there's something here about testing :

And I'd talk to Jakkal for anything else.
