Help Wanted - C++ and Content Design

When VG first went sunset, we had a ton of people offering to rebuild this world when faced with the loss of Telon and Vanguard. The collection effort, as many of you know, was staggering and awesome - with over 60 players offering to collect this massive world of data for us, collecting over [b:22cdm5pl]300GB[/b:22cdm5pl] of data! For you [url=memberlist.php?mode=group&g=10:22cdm5pl]Collectors[/url:22cdm5pl], we are eternally grateful, and I think I speak for developers and players alike.

[b:22cdm5pl]Content Design[/b:22cdm5pl] is a huge part of putting this game back to a playable status. Initially, we had 20+ volunteers to get that enormous task done, but unfortunately building the world server from scratch takes time, and most have lost interest. After numerous "roll calls" to see who was still interested in helping, I'm left with very few responses -- which is expected after taking over a year to get the server ready for content. Which leads to the next caveat --

[b:22cdm5pl]Server Development[/b:22cdm5pl] - that is, the entire engine of the game, every little thing you ever did in Vanguard: Live has to be re-written from nothing, and that effort is being done by 3 part time volunteers. Visitors showing up only a year after Sunset and saying "[i:22cdm5pl]I thought it would be further along[/i:22cdm5pl]" clearly have no idea what it takes to reverse-engineer a game engine when the Live game is gone and there is barely any information on the internet to offer hints. Considering the size of this team, the free time they have and the complexity of the task, this team are miracle-workers by comparison to other projects. And we're just getting started.

The goals I am setting for this next year (2016) are likely impossible if our team does not grow. We need skilled C++ developers to finish this game engine, and we need dedicated, consistent World Builders to put Telon back together and breathe life into this game once again.

If you are interested in becoming a part of the VGO Team, send a PM with your qualifications (even if those qualifications are only a mad, crazed desire to break stuff) to any of the following team leaders and let them know what interest you have and how much time you think you can spend helping us out. Otherwise, stay active on our forums and help answer developer questions, which is just as helpful as writing code. The rest, log in to New Telon and break stuff.

I want to close by thanking the 800+ members here and 600+ members of the VGOPlayers community for their ongoing support and unwavering appreciation of the work we're doing. Without this community's support, we wouldn't be as far along as we are.
