Hoping I can help.
Disclaimer- I sent this to the FB page in a drunken tizzy after a little too much scotch on the night I read that VG was dead for good... To whoever read the inital one on facebook, I apologize for the profanity. Sailors have poor filters when drunk.
This is a message from an old timey VG player. A little history would serve me well (I hope). I joined the US Navy, and at my first duty station, I was introduced to MMORPG's. I played SWG until Sony decided to change it to world of star wars craft. Sad day indeed. BUT HARK!!!
Vanguard stood on the horizon. I honestly don't know how I heard about it, but not a single one of my Navy friends played it. No matter. I got in at beta AND I was like the fifth person on my PVP server ZOMG WIN! The ching noise of killing someone hooked me.
So there I was, on my second ever MMORPG, as a lvl1 cleric on a full on PVP server (Sartok), having the time of my life fighting people right outside the starter town. I then used my hard earned coin to purchase a horse, which I then used to scout out some snowy mountains never before seen by anyone but devs. This was a magic moment for me. I made game first discoveries galore. It was incredible, even with all the deaths.
I took the game with me.
Over the years VG was played first in Washington DC, then in the Chagos islands on Diego Garcia(regularly got 1000 ping), then back in DC, then in the chagos again (1000 ping), then again in DC, then in Bahrain (1000 ping half the time), followed by Laurel, Maryland (SUPER low population by that time). After that my entire guild was gone, and my war cleric Betsy, who terrorized people since launch, was a master diplomat/lumberjack and had a ridiculous amount of gold, resources, and real estate, was a novelty not worthy of a raid party, or even membership in a guild. This upset me to the point of taking a few year hiatus. one year led to three thanks to crazy family problems, and here I am, hoping to salvage something from the beautiful game I invested so much time and effort into. I have forgotten more about this game then most people know about themselves.
The gist of this is that I am SO happy to help any and every way I can. Just let me know. I will admit I know very little about coding, but I am a an ace when it comes to enforcing protocol, rules, and requirements. My current job can be demanding at times, and I am still working on my degree, but I am sure there are a few things I can offer. Currently work in information security so while I don't code directly, I am intimately familiar with the coding process and readily involved in it. I can elaborate if need be on a more private medium.
Anything I can do to help this out I am willing to do. Soon (hopefully within the year our area will have a 1gb up/down at an affordable rate in the central US area. At the least I can host a test server or something.
In short- help me help you.
REALLY looking forward to the success of this project.

Re: Hoping I can help.
I remember your post on VGOPlayers, Betsy I believe I might have mentioned there, the best way you can help is with that great memory of gameplay as we move into the phases of developing game features. Right now we're still wrapping up stability and a few basic data implementations to teach us how the data flows.
Next to beta testing (er, ALPHA testing!) people who vividly remember how VG worked are the most important thing - because we do not have a server to reference anymore. Your knowledge of PvP will also come in handy since I don't think anyone remembers how that worked.
Welcome aboard, sailor
