Koralith, a spoony disciple.
Hello everyone!
I'm Koralith, I was also Koralith on VG's Xeth server and onwards. Spent some time with FR and Unleashed then struck out on my own with the significant other, helping newbies and exploring out of the way hole's in the earth.
Vanguard was my first major stint in a western MMO (before that I'd spent more time than I should admit with Ragnarok Online, both officially hosted and as part of the private server scene) and it holds a special place in my heart. I'm so exceptionally glad that this project is underway and someone has taken up the task of keeping this amazing world alive.
As mentioned before, I've spent a lot of time with Ragnarok Online, and a lot of that time was in it's private server community. At first this was with a leaked server binary that we had to primarily edit via hex edits to make any major changes (outside of quests/monster spawns) but eventualy thanks to efforts like this it moved to an emulator project called eAthena. I spent a lot of time as a lead content designer with a successful private server. The RO server was pretty cobbled together, with a mis-matched jumble of text file configurations and DBs as well as proper SQL DBs. It used a custom scripting system that was pretty basic for handling quests, events, and NPC interactions but it was a lot of fun wrangling the system to do what you wanted to bring new content to players.
I work IT for a multinational company, focusing on process improvement, and customer satisfaction for our provided services so my main angle when approaching technical problems often ends up as "how's the user going to find this?" I studied some programming (C++, .NET CLR) while in Uni but it's been a while since I've put any of that into real practice. Most of my expertise is more in content design and architecture.
I'd love to help out in any way I can though to make sure this game remains forever available.

Not sure if you noticed, but there's lots of room for content design in New Telon Let me know when you're ready to start heh.

Thanks, Kilsin! It's good to be here.
And sure thing, John! I'm going to start off with getting a local install up and running to tinker in so I can get an understanding of what's where and how you guys have this thing worked out. Should be fun times.

Koralith, do you happen to remember a cleric named Betsy? Glad to see you here either way.
