Deltharien
Gaming
Deltharien has been my main (Elven ranger, if possible) in every fantasy game. The name has been with me since 1983 and tabletop D&D, through numerous MUDs, and into current online games. I've played UO, EQ, DAoC, EQ2, WoW, GW, VG, Rift, LotRO, NWN, GW2, ESO, and others that I can't remember, I'm sure. Of all of the games I've played, UO, EQ, and VG were my favorites, with VG topping the list. I was lucky enough to be in the first wave of beta 1 invites for Vanguard after "friends and family" (beta 0) ended. It was the first game since EQ that awed me, and so far, the last to stir those feelings. Before I'd even hit level ten, I'd fallen in with a regular group. Many nights we found ourselves grouped with Brad, who readily shared his ideas for VG. A lot didn't make it in, and a lot that did make it, got yanked in beta 3 or shortly after release. VG is the last of an era, and all my hopes for a new gaming home lie completely with this project. I'd love to see this team turn Vanguard: Saga of Heroes into the game it always should have been.
Real Life
I'm an IT contractor that specializes in solutions for SMBs. I've got a background in both IT and mechanical engineering. Back in the day, I was known for my VFP skills, which was an easy transition from Basic, but I haven't done much since, other than scripting. I'll freely admit that I'm out of the loop, but I'm strongly considering rolling up my programming sleeves again and diving into C++ in hopes that I can lend a hand. Realistically I don't expect to attain sufficient skills before the project reaches fruition. The syntax of the C languages is so different from basic that it just doesn't flow for me. I look and I see a chicken tracked across the paper - nay, he hopscotched across the paper, fell down in his own poop, and rolled the rest of the way.
Hobbies
Being a nerd, fishing, chasing {slow} women, {light} weight lifting, gardening, and doing anything mechanical (working on small engines, stuff like that).
