Greets!
Greets All!
I'm a long time MMORPGer, who played EQ1 starting in Beta Phase 4, and was a guild leader for over 7 years there. I had left EQ1 and tried World of Warcraft, played DAoC, then onto EQ2, as well as so many other MMORPGs. But I really loved the world of Telon and the game play Vanguard Saga of Heroes had to offer. My wife and I both played from beta, through launch (and all the bugs), up to the sunset of the game. Yeah, I occasionally took some time off away from the game to pursue other things, like education and work but I always knew I could come back to let off some steam , explore , and make new friends in the game. At least up to the sunset of the game. Since that day, I haven't really found a new MMORPG to satiate myself the way Vanguard always did. So here I am.
Away from gaming, I am a senior developer/team lead/tech adviser/project manager, mostly developing whatever I am under contract to develop or lead a team through the different phases of project implementation. I have over 20 years of experience in a wide gamut of technologies and disciplines. This includes much of the .NET world. I won't bore everyone with the 8 page skill set list.
As far as VGOEmulator.net goes, I am new here. I'm slowly reading posts and discovering how the project has progressed. I installed TortoiseSVN and have imported the repository. I plan to spend some time getting the current code functioning on one of my home servers and discovering how everything was built so far.
I look forward to seeing Vanguard return again! And I hope to see you all soon in-game!

Your resume' sounds like someone finally cloned me, only I'll bet you are a nicer guy Shoot me a PM with your areas of interest specific to VGOEmulator (core services, features, DB/content, scripting, etc) and we'll get you set up.

Glad to meet you, John. I'll definitely PM you once I get up to speed on the project. It's the holidays and I have two days of work left before I get my 4 days off over Thanksgiving. I plan to use some of that time off to read up, do some code review, and set things up here so I have a working development environment and a separate test environment. I also have my own team of testers (my wife and two oldest boys, who grew up loving MMORPG games because of my influence) Look for that PM a few days after the Thanksgiving holiday is over. I'd hate to use up any of your time or resources before I have at least a working understanding of the server code.
Everyone, thanks for all the warm welcomes. I hope to be of use to the team.
Cheers!
