  2. I liked Wigin until I heard that he came from QA...jk lol :p
Nice to finally see another Dev spotlight, please keep them coming, TLock and a few others would be nice!
  3. Always nice to see people are working on the game and the things they have to say about it. :)
  4. "Do you play Vanguard? If so, tell us a bit about your character?
I have played all classes at least a little bit but have put some legitimate time into a Paladin, Druid, and Sorcerer. The next class I am going to level up is a Bloodmage because the class is very unique compared to other games."

this made me a sad panda
  5. Welcome to team Wig! We look forward to your hand guiding us into new content!!!!

That is a really refreshing statement to read. Quite often us players don't know the correct method for beating a new mob so we try just about anything and are some times unaware if we are exploiting or not (like when the sisters were first beat). And of course after that we are always trying to find new ways to make an encounter easier, so it is really up to the devs to know the game well enough that they can design an encounter that is 100% unexploitable.
From memory i believe Wigin hand a hand in designing the new Misthaven mobs, plus many of the PotA T3 dailies. Combine those with some of the new mobs i have seen in CoB, and you have some very well thought out and particularly nasty encounters.
I for one am looking forward to tackling the Wigin designed Overlord Tyrious once CoB eventually goes live, seemed like the toughest mob in CoB that we saw.
p.s. Does anyone call you chief after chief wiggins in south park?

Misthaven was pretty much all me as well as the PoTA T3 daily mobs.
In CoB I did the Overlord, he shouldn't be too impossibly hard once the stratagy is figured out. The first couple of playtests there was a bug with his main ability that prevented players from being able to mitigate the damaage. Next time you see him it should work correctly. As long as you know the mechanic and don't mess up he shouldn't wreck everyones face. In addition I did the Arena Master in CoB.
Tharridon is mine as well, when players found and tested him his main mechanic wasn't in yet so that fight should be a LOT harder. Tharridon just needs me to finish changing his lore to fit the existing lore of Renton Keep now and some balance testing to see how well players can handle his main mechanic as well as seeing how it works with 24 people running around instead of me 3 boxing.

Any chance you could use of of this talent and give Falgerholm some lovins? I really really enjoyed that city of giants and with the right hand, it could be an awesome place. Just needs itemization and a good solid quest line.....then maybe Frosthard lake and its closed dungeon....Dark Eye hold....and well then there is Northern Highlands, eastpoint......
OK OK the whole north-eastern section of Thestra is a gold mine of adventure awaiting a dev like you to just dive in!!!!
Hmmmm, better tell Sil your gonna be busy for the next few months!

I LOVE THE PotA t3 daily mobs!!! I really hope you'd consider adding Epic slivers as a part of the reward for turning in those quests. Not many people kill these mobs these days due to 600 faction from diplo and offerings.
I would really llike to see more people make groups to kill these mobs. Most of these mobs are difficult and fun encounters to figure out and execute.
BOD Gnome, the Wildgrowth Forest, SOK, The Dragon mob in Fathessi Steppi (sp?) are my personal favorites.
  13. Glad you liked the Mobs. I was pretty proud of a couple of them. Some of them however ended up being a little too simple. I used them to experiment with the intent of using the same type of mechanic and changing them to fit a raid fight.
FYI Tharridon's last mechanic is based off of the Magnetic Bombs from the Gnome except on steroids.
  14. We had a 2 hour Tharridon fight when he was up in test. Seemed to mitigate a lot of dmg.
But I can't wait to see Tharridon with a redone lore and hope to see a working version of him sometime soon so that he can "test" us.
  15. Mitigation has been lowered a decent amount as well. Shouldn't be a 2 hour fight.
  16. Ok last post to harass you and I promise to stop. I hope to see more of the "Build your own" mob type encounters like Prince Julian in hillsbury.
Another favorite encounter of mine. Well killing him wasn't as much fun as figuring out what was the best combo to kill him with. I'd love to see a raid mob based on the same design philosophy and fun/challenging to kill.

He really needs a rename. Tharridon acting as a giant baby is a complete abomination of the lore of the giants:

  18. Prince was a lot of fun to make and at some point I might try and do a raid fight of the same idea. I am a little worried because its really hard to balance that kind of fight.
Prince had the added bonus of the Hilsbury scaling debuff that let me make him pretty hard so players were able to work on the other bosses to lower the debuff which made it safer to make him harder with the debuff at full and easier when you have it mitigated which creates a natural balance of difficutly.
It definately may make an appearance again and I used the same behind the scene setup to do both the Overlord and Arena Master fights because the scaling makes fights much more dynamic.
