First paid expansion at SOE Live 2013?

  1. Since we now have a new DEV team, I would love to see a new paid expansion to Vanguard by SOE 2013 - even though its been around 6 years by then, it would be great to see a full blown expansion (like EQ,EQ2, RIFT, ect).

    Suggestions for this include

-New continent - Explore a vast new and uncharted landmass (several new raids, dungeons)
-Level Cap Increase to 70 (15 levels to co-incide with new landmass)
-New Playable Race (related to landmass)
-New Class (related to new race perhaps?)
-A form of Achievements system (similar to WOWS)
    -New Alternate Advancement
And of course the plethora of pre-order bonuses, items for you existing and new characters.

    Heres hoping!
  2. Plenty of unused land mass to work on, plenty of races already, plenty of classes already, but I would like AA ;)

As for AA's until we get new group & Raid Content (and quite a bit of it) adding in AA's is not and will only lead to trivializing even more raiding content that currently exists. There would need to be a large influx of content balanced out to having the added strength that implimenting AA's would bring.
  4. I can't begin to describe the disaster that I think a level cap increase would be. Don't trivialize what content we still have.
I like AA's but they will have much the same effect. Better add alot of content first.
  5. New content- sure, but use it to fill in/ better utilize the content that's already there and/or build on the existing lore- don't really need a new continent of just-discovered giant lemurs
Achievements- again, sure, but this makes me think of the line "when everybody's special, nobody is" (The Incredibles)- an example from a game cited by OP that my wife still (!!!) plays- she's a completionist, and she loves pets. Her main toon had, prior to panda expansion, something like 185 pets, and she was busting her booty to get to 200 for the achievement. However, with the expansion, they dumbed-down the achievement by combining pets across all of her characters- (dumbed-down in the sense that it is now possible, given enough alsts, to buy enough pets from NPC's to get the achievement without any effort) thus rendering the achievement portion (aside from enjoyment) moot. (and no, I'm not even touching on the ability of a level 1 alt to now access a pet only obtainable from an area only playable by level 90 toons). Please avoid this type of "achievement".

We all hope, but right now lets just get game in shape.
  7. They could keep current level cap, and add the remaining abilities which should have been there, instead of the limited set which is currently in.
  8. Someone plays WOW too much. Really? a 15 lvl cap increase. Evidently you have not lvled from 50-55. 15 more lvls? With raid content? More races? More classes? AA's? Why dont we just change the name while we're at it? World of VanguarderQuest 2. And why would you want achievments? That is the most pointless mechanic ever in a game.
  9. Any type of expansion would work but they need to promote the game properly. Hasn't happened yet and that includes the release. It's sad too because this game is better than everything that's out there right now, and better than what's coming out. There were no promotions for this game until F2P. First time I saw a promotion/ad for Vanguard. Steam re-release didn't do squat (just found out it was on steam today).
The players have been betrayed by devs for how long now?
  10. As much as I would like to see this, it's not happening. They barely have the manpower to get CoB out after over a year in limbo. I suspect it will take them approx. 6 months at least for each content update if they are able to retain the current number of devs.
Not enough manpower basically, not even close.
Course, that could change is the F2P stuff continues to bring in more people.
  11. while i'd love to see an expansion of vanguard that gives us avra or another land mass that was talked about during development, the reality is the team is just too small at present to pull off both a live team and an expansion team. at present i will just be happy if smedly keeps the current team together, additions are okay but subtractions bring a frowny face, so we can see things that have been desired for years like pankor, hoss and stiirhad.
as far as the suggestions for an expansion:
avra would be my top list, since a) it was suposeded to be larger than thestra, qalia and kojan combined and b) the way player cities on avra were talked about being built three dimentionaly sounded really cool (though i imagine impossible).
i wouldn't mind a level increase or aa's provided the expansion provided content that was still a challenge even with them and content to level both up in.
as far as races and classes go, i would love to see the inquisitor and bezerker added, provided they could be balanced, and an expansion would be a perfect time to add them. it would make sense that a new race or two could show up on the new land mass and it would facilitate multiple story arcs.

Thanks for the post. Would be a nice thing to read "NEW EXPANSION COMING TO VANGUARD SAGA OF HEROES". Yep would be very nice indeed.

When the level cap was last increased it obsoleted a large number of end-game zones and funneled players into a handful of areas which were artificially under-conned (BOD elementals anyone?) to promote grouping and provide a challenge to players with then end-game gear.
This decision has continued to negatively impact gameplay for both vets, who are restricted in the content available, and new players, who hit a wall of mobs that are far harder to handle thereby limiting their choices futher. If the level cap were increased again this would only repeat this issue without both a huge level increase and a vast amount of new content.
However something will need to be done. Raid-geared players have started to cap the stats relevent to their class, and look to Equipped Effects to provide improvement, but that is a route that cannot continue indefinitely. AA's increasing stat limits would solve that issue, but come with the risk of taking players to a level that trivializes the current content, thereby returning to the initial problem.
I don't envy the job of whomever is tasked with coming up with a long-term plan for Vanguard.
  19. As a complete noob to the game, I cannot comment on much of what is discussed here, but I feel strongly enough about something that I feel I must give my perspective.

Right now VG is in need of an influx of new players. Th F2P, the Steam release, the increased "advertising" all attest to this. I strongly feel that while thile this is the case, raising the level cap would be a terrible mistake. It would be discouraging for people who are just starting to all of the sudden have their goal that much farther away.

I personally ALWAYS feel that adding to a level cap is a terrible idea. Eventually it completely alienates new players But especially in VG's case I think it's even more critical. I hope the devs add more content for those players that have reached the level cap, make a real endgame, but NOT raise the cap. I feel like that's the easy way out and "cheapens" the characters people have put so much time into.

All of which will occur before an expansion to Vanguard sees the light of day.
