So, I am new..

  1. So far, a really good game, not great, not fantastic, but really good. This of course is propbably due to the fact that I haven't learned everything there is to know. I have some questions if any one would be kind enough to answer them.

    1. in every other game I have played, there is a goal, a target to complete that each and every player works towards be it an Epic weapon(EQ1 and EQ2), an epic quest line (Rift), or an Epic armor set (All games pretty much). What is there in VG? What is my goal other than to run around and kill stuff in your average level grind?

    2. OMG Crafting. I have never seen a tradeskill system quite like this one. I noticed when I finished the tutorial on Harvesting and tradeskilling that I became an outfitter, a blacksmith AND an artificer. Was this just a spam bug or can I actually learn and make items from each tradeskill? Or, if I am dedicated to one TS does it evolve? (EQ2: Start as a crafter, become a blacksmith, then become a weaponsmith or armorsmith)

3.Whats the max level? (simple enough question I guess :) )

    4. I had only installed VG, are there any expansions I am not aware of? And if so, what are their names and how do I get them?

I have a plethera of more questions but I will keep themto myself. And please fogive me for asking such noobish questions here, but the game is down and I don't want to actually work today, and I haven't obtained a guild yet, so...you get to put up with me :p
  2. for starters, welcome to vanguard. its a friendly community so most questions can be answered in /ooc
no expansions, all updates have been part of the game since launch.
one crafting skill per character (although smithing has some general things, you specialize in weapons or armor for example) and yes, it is the best crafting (if you like feeling like you are making something) anywhere.
max level is 55 and there are epics in end game that require a lot of work once you get there
There are more quests on more continents in more places than you will ever do on several alts. The recent lorestone quests reminded us how big telon is.
characters have more class distinctions as you level up. try several, but dont judge a class by lvl 1 - 10
most of all , have fun, help others along the way

Touching on this as someone still relatively new/ low- level. Yes, there are things/quests/etc. that most seem to do at end-game. However, how you get there is pretty much open. There arent many "rails", for good or ill. There are questlines which most would encourage you to follow, places to go, etc, but VG's greatest strength (and weakness these days) is that it is more of a sandbox than most. If you enjoy just running around to see what you find, it's a great place. If you want a-b-c...z, you may not really enjoy it.
Either way, L is absolutely correct re: community- even with the f2p influx, the vast majority of vets will take the time/effort to help newer players.
    Good luck and have fun!
  4. Welcome to the game!
