I really want to play this game more than any other MMO, but the lag makes it virtually unplayable for me. I've tried every tech tweak and trick on this forum and many others, and although they've improved things the lag is still enough to make it tedious to play. I remember reading a post from one of the development Managers here a few months back about the Vanguard dev team eventually implementing the network code that was used for Planetside 2, so I'm wondering if there's any update on that.
Wow! Having previously been a programmer myself I would have never expected that you were this far along in the process of implementing that change. I can definitely appreciate this "I can't even begin to explain how much code has been changed or touched." The day it's on the test server I will be downloading it for a test - heck, I admittedly don't even know how to participate in the Test Server builds, but I swear I'll find out how.
Thanks for pointing that out Sinisna. Will there be any consequences of selecting the Test Server, or can I freely go back and forth between the Live and Test servers?
Does the Test Server have its own character list, or am I excluded from Test because I have all my character slots used up on Live? Can existing Live characters be copied to Test? I'm thinking particularly of my only remaining character on Helgar, if I had the chance I'd move him to Test rather than lose him on the merger which is my only option as I've already got him on Telon.
Log on to the characer you want to have on test and do a /copycharacter if that command still exists. They don't run the copy all the time though so may take awhile for the copy to occur
I don't know AlexS, I haven't tried to access the test server yet. I did use the /copy command ok, but then a while later I had to delete the character because I didn't want it transferring to Telon and causing me naming issues, so it probably didn't get copied across to the test server before I deleted it. It's not important, however.
