It is with great regret that I announce the passing of a dear friend and guild-mate, Karella Jureen.

I've had the pleasure of being her friend since the beginning of Vanguard. Karella, was a founding member of our guild, Final Resolve. She was our strength in the guild, an officer, our co-leader, and our manager of all things related to crafting and diplomacy. If you needed an item, you could be assured Kar had it rat-holed somewhere, in alphabetical order, no less. She was the strength behind me and managed all the stuff I didn't have time for.

If you were blessed to have known her, most likely it was something she made for you or helped with. Kar loved to help others whenever it was asked. One didn't need to be a guild mate to get advice or help from her. If you were an aspiring crafter, she would guide you. If you wanted help with learning diplo, she would guide you. She gave always of herself and never asked for anything in return.

When the VG crafter site went down, she devoted hours to restoring all the data she had a record of into a knowledge - base that the community could use. Our forum section devoted to crafting is still one that players will return to for information.

As a cleric, she was one of the best, and loved to help others learning their skill. In a group she was a fun, light hearted player with a touch of mischief in her attitude. She loved the challenge of the game and would enjoy stretching our limits during game play. (giggling- I know, I've heard her snickering in vent)

The community lost a great person today. I’ll always treasure the times we shared in game and out.
Kris Hart gave up her 8 year long battle with breast cancer today at 3:23 pm Christmas Day. She is survived by her husband Dave (aka Arlen), a brother and sister-in-law, both parents, and 3 treasured kitties.

I’ll post up information as I get it about services and where to send cards or flowers if you wish to do so.

A sad sad day for anyone who knew Karella.

I sent my symphaties to Arlen on FB, but am afraid it will probably end up in the "others" folder. Please send him my deepest condolences.

What a courageous lady - I can only hope that if something similar happens to me that I will face it as well as she did.

Loosing someone is not a nice thing. Even if I barely know peeps in-game. This still saddens me to hear such sad news. My wishes to the family and friends.

The Vanguard community is often times noted as being "so different" from other online gaming communities, I feel that the relationships that we build is a large part of that "so different" reality, for in Telon the people behind the keyboard play as large a factor in our enjoyment as the characters they play.

I am so sorry to read of your loss. Not only was Karella respected and admired among our community, I can only image the loss that your guild is feeling and more over, the incredible grief of her family.

Thoughts and prayers to her family and her friends,

I still remember my first return after a few month hiatus, logging back into FR to find Kar's second statement after a "welcome back" to "you need better gear". Within a short time she emailed me a full set of brand spanking new ranger jewelry that Falcron still wears to this day, many years later.

For myself thats how I will remember her, helping those with out any worry of repayment, she gave me 5 UR peices jewelry because I needed it. And again a testimate to her generosity she handed me 40 fungus mortar's she had "laying around" in her bank when Brains and Brawn began our guild hall construction.

There are not enough players in any game like Kar, which is what makes one such as her so special. I am the richer for having known her, and blessed to be the receiver of gifts from her.

May she rest in peace and my thoughts go out to her family, I am very sorry for such a loss.

Karella's friends and family are spread out so there will be memorial services in a few locations. TBD

If you wish to send a card, you can send that to their home at: Dave Hart, 1823 Alpine St, Longmont, CO 80504.
Be sure to identify yourself with your in-game name. so that he will know who you are.

In lieu of flowers, Arlen would prefer a contribution in her name to: Susan G. Komen® Foundation, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
